About this role
Welcome to our Neuro and Stroke Unit in Östersund. Here you will meet patients from the entire Jämtland Härjedalen region with stroke, TIA, acute and planned neurology, and brain tumors. The Neuro and Stroke Unit currently has 18 care beds and also handles the region's "Save the Brain" alerts around the clock.
Our goal is for all newly hired nursing assistants to receive the support they need to feel confident in their professional role, provide patients with good and safe care, and gain increased knowledge in the specific neurology and stroke area. As a nursing assistant with us, you are offered a developing work environment where you can use your care skills and grow in your role. You will experience many varied care situations, both acute and planned, and as a newcomer, you will receive support from experienced colleagues both during your onboarding and afterwards. On the unit, you will work with a digital patient overview via tablet that you carry with you throughout your entire work shift.
We have a coordinator on-site during weekday daytime who answers incoming calls, arranges discharges, transport bookings, orders, and receives reports, which provides nursing assistants with significant task relief. We also use healthcare support services to assist with patient transports, supply management, and food handling.
Work on our unit may also involve working with individual patients with significant and specific care needs, where you or your colleagues work specifically assigned to that patient during designated work shifts.
By choosing to work with us, you become part of a fantastic team that learns from and motivates each other.
WORK TASKS
Common nursing assistant tasks on the unit include basic and specific nursing care. Monitoring vital parameters such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiratory rate. Blood sugar checks. In your work, you will closely collaborate with other professional categories. The unit also has needs for additional monitoring for individual patients, which may involve advanced nursing care, supervision related to fall risk and/or anxiety.
