Intensive Care Nursing Assistant

We provide advanced intensive care with monitoring and treatment of patients with vital function failures. We also keep some beds available for intermediate care patients and monitoring of postoperative patients during on-call hours. You will become an important part of an engaged team that, in addition to you as a nursing assistant, consists of intensive care nurses and doctors. Together, we work to provide our patients with the best possible care. The work is scheduled based on a rotating roster covering days, evenings, and nights. You will receive a thorough introduction tailored to your previous knowledge and experience. About you For this temporary position, we are looking for someone who is a trained nursing assistant. The temporary position is to cover for a staff member on leave, so there are good chances for extension. We seek someone who enjoys meeting people and makes them feel safe and welcome. Your future workplace Approximately 60 people work in the intensive care unit, including anesthesiologists, specialized intensive care nurses, general nurses, nursing assistants, and a secretary. Adjacent to the ICU, we have a recovery unit and a day surgery unit currently staffed by general nurses and nursing assistants. About 600 patients of all ages with varying diagnoses are treated in the ICU each year. All patients who have been cared for for more than 92 hours are offered a visit to our Post-ICU clinic. We participate in trauma alerts and emergency alerts at the hospital. We also assist the pediatric clinic with ventilator care in the Neonatal unit. Despite being the smaller acute hospital, we have most specialties represented, such as surgery, orthopedics, medicine, women's clinic with maternity care, pediatric clinic with neonatal unit, and ophthalmology and otolaryngology. The infectious disease clinic is located in Kalmar, where we have a close collaboration. Our hospital's strength lies in short and swift decision-making processes with personal contact and relationships across departmental boundaries. This enables us to provide our intensive care with high quality and good results. Västervik Hospital is one of three hospitals in Kalmar County.
