Intensive Care Nursing Assistant

We provide advanced intensive care with monitoring and treatment of patients with compromised vital functions. We also keep some beds available for intermediate care patients as well as monitoring of postoperative patients during on-call hours. You will be an important part of a competent and cohesive team consisting of nursing assistants, intensive care nurses, and doctors who all collaborate to provide patients with the best possible care. The work is scheduled based on a rotating roster covering days, evenings, and nights. You will receive a thorough introduction tailored to your previous knowledge and experience. The position is at 85%, with the possibility to work up to 100% according to internal procedures if desired. Your future workplace Approximately 60 people work in the intensive care unit, including anesthesiologists, specialized intensive care nurses, general nurses, nursing assistants, and a secretary. Adjacent to the ICU, we have a recovery unit and a day surgery unit currently staffed by general nurses and nursing assistants. In the ICU, we care for about 600 patients per year of all ages with varying diagnoses. All patients who have been cared for for more than 92 hours are offered a visit to our Post-ICU clinic. We participate in trauma alerts and emergency alerts at the hospital. We also assist the pediatric clinic with ventilator care in the Neonatal unit. Despite being the smaller acute hospital, we have most specialties represented, such as surgery, orthopedics, medicine, a women's clinic with maternity services, a pediatric clinic with a neonatal unit, as well as ophthalmology and otolaryngology. The infectious disease clinic is located in Kalmar, where we have a close collaboration. Our hospital's strength lies in short and swift decision-making paths with personal contact and relationships across clinical boundaries. This enables us to provide our intensive care with high quality and good results. Västervik Hospital is one of three hospitals in Kalmar County.
