In collaboration with Malmö City, Trelleborg, Svedala, and Vellinge municipalities, the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in Skåne has initiated a project to establish the first FACT Young (Flexible Assertive Community Treatment) team in Skåne. We operate from premises in the Kulladal area of Malmö and are staffed by personnel from Region Skåne (doctors, nurses, psychologists, social workers, family therapists, caregivers, occupational therapists, and unit managers) as well as staff from the Social Services ASF (family therapists). In our external team, we collaborate with coordinators from the other partner municipalities, schools, and other key healthcare providers and stakeholders relevant to the cases. Our target group is children and young people aged 10-18 years and their families, who face complex child psychiatric issues requiring extensive support and treatment from both healthcare and social services.
The purpose of FACT is to create a comprehensive structure for a treatment team around the patient, where all relevant professions and resources deemed necessary for the patient's current needs are prioritized and included. This allows for flexible care on the patient's own terms, performed in close collaboration between healthcare and the municipality. Meetings can take place at the clinic, in the youth's home, or wherever they feel comfortable.
Our goal is to ensure continuity of care, improve functional levels, prevent hospitalization in inpatient care, and break the youth's social exclusion by encouraging active participation. The team should be able to flexibly meet varying levels of support and intervention needs. The advantages for the youth include receiving adequate treatment and needs-oriented interventions from the same organization, regardless of changes in their condition. Difficulties we often encounter with our youth include neuropsychiatric diagnoses, mood disorders, post-traumatic difficulties, and autism spectrum disorders, often in a complex context with comorbidity and problematic school absenteeism. We hope that this project will pave the way for more units within BUP Skåne to develop further according to the FACT model.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are now seeking a junior doctor for a fixed-term position of six months, with the possibility of extension. The position is based at the FACT clinic in Malmö.
In your role as a doctor with us, you will work on in-depth assessments, diagnostics, and treatment alongside an engaged interdisciplinary team. You will work both individually and in teams, collaborating around the patient with neighboring care providers and other partners, such as schools and social services. Visits can take place both in home environments and at the clinic.
We offer supervision from specialist doctors and other colleagues, weekly treatment conferences, and ongoing medical meetings. There are good opportunities for a specialist training position if the applicant has a Swedish medical license and performs well in the role.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for a licensed doctor or someone with a medical degree eligible to practice within Swedish healthcare. Proficiency in Swedish at least at level C1 according to the Council of Europe's language scale is a requirement for the position.
To succeed in this role, you should be an engaged, communicative, and stable person who is willing to take initiative. It is important that you prioritize the patient's best interests and enjoy a varied workday. We value flexibility and good collaboration skills, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and, of course, an interest in the target group. Previous experience working with children and young people is considered an asset. We are keen to find the right person for the role, so significant emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
