We are now seeking a committed and experienced Maintenance Manager for one of Europe's largest cement plants located in Slite, Gotland.
Cement from Heidelberg Materials in Slite is essential for the construction of infrastructure, housing, schools, wind farms, and more in Sweden. The operation is transitioning to produce cement with close to zero net carbon emissions. This transition involves many initiatives, one of which is a CCS facility that you can read more about here.

Your Role
You will report to our Operations Manager and be an important member of the management team. The role involves leading the maintenance department, which consists of about 70 employees. Your department includes preventive maintenance, electrical maintenance, and corrective maintenance. The managers of these areas report to you and lead their teams through supervisors. The department’s employees include skilled and dedicated managers, engineers, mechanics, tribologists, machine analysts, inspectors, electricians, and more. The department comprises both new hires and experienced staff in a good mix. The working hours at the plant for maintenance are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, but operations run around the clock, year-round. All maintenance staff therefore have on-call duties according to a schedule. You are part of the plant's crisis management team.
You collaborate with the production manager in Slite to create the best possible conditions for our results. Within the group, you will have a lot of contact with CCC, our international competence center, which provides us with close support as needed. There is also a network of maintenance managers within the group.
Your Responsibilities Include:
• Ensuring a good working environment and that our employees thrive and develop
• Leading, coordinating, and following up on the operations within the maintenance department
• Developing the operations to achieve even more proactive maintenance with an increased focus on data-driven decisions and automation
• Drafting and following up on maintenance plans and budgets
• Driving continuous improvements
• Working closely with other departments to integrate maintenance work fully with the organization’s goals
• Ensuring compliance with laws and regulations through established routines and policies
Your Profile
We are looking for someone with experience in maintenance work in a leadership role, preferably within industry. You are a leader with the ability to motivate your team. You possess strong analytical skills and are solution-oriented with a focus on safety and efficiency - continuous improvements are a given for you. It is important that you have an engineering degree, preferably in mechanical engineering or a similar field.
English is our corporate language and is used daily, as is Swedish. You find it easy to navigate O365, SAP, and other systems.
