About this role
The Technical Division operates independently and consists of five areas of operation: Street/Park/Harbor, Nyköping Water, Waste Management, Meal Services, and Municipal Properties. These are supported by a project department, finance department, and an administrative staff. The division employs approximately 400 permanent staff and has an annual turnover of over 1 billion SEK. Our clients include the Municipal Executive Board, the Environmental and Community Planning Committee, and the Culture and Recreation Committee.
The Street/Park/Harbor unit is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and development of streets, parks, and Nyköping Harbor on behalf of the Environmental and Community Planning Committee, as well as certain recreational facilities on behalf of the Culture and Recreation Committee. The unit ensures that Nyköping has a functional and safe street and road system that meets the needs of traffic participants regarding accessibility, traffic safety, and security. Well-maintained streets, beautiful park environments, safe playgrounds, and a vibrant harbor will make Nyköping an attractive place for both residents and visitors.
You will be part of a cheerful team consisting of 18 individuals with various professions, collectively forming a planning and investigation unit within the street, park, and harbor sectors. The unit's work is conducted in close collaboration with colleagues in the operational units for streets, parks, and harbors, as well as other departments and administrations within Nyköping Municipality.
**JOB DESCRIPTION**
As a traffic planner, you will work both strategically and with ongoing traffic issues related to accessibility, mobility, traffic safety, and availability in ongoing projects and expansions. You will engage in the early stages of traffic and street projects, investigating and planning various traffic measures, such as the municipality's bicycle plan. In collaboration with other units within the municipality, you will also participate in detailed planning work, review project documents, respond to consultations, and prepare cases for the municipality's political committees. Additionally, you will handle feedback and reports regarding traffic issues.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
You who apply should have relevant education focused on the area of work or work experience that the employer deems equivalent. Good knowledge of the Office suite is required. You must have a strong ability to express yourself in Swedish, both verbally and in writing, knowledge of English, and a valid driver's license (Category B). Experience working in a politically governed organization, as well as experience in detailed planning work and knowledge of the community planning process, is a plus but not a requirement.
As a person, you are a team player with good collaborative skills, sociable, and have an easy time communicating verbally and in writing. You are curious, responsible, and structured. You are accustomed to working independently, prioritizing, planning, and following up on work within your area of responsibility. You also function well in various group constellations beyond your regular colleagues.
