About this role

The City of Västerås has removed the personal letter from the application process. We do this to achieve a better and fairer recruitment process. When you submit your application, you will be required to answer a number of questions that will play an important role in our selection process. Do you enjoy spending time outdoors in all seasons and weather? Do you thrive on meeting people and providing excellent service? If you are looking for an active daily routine and enjoy being on the move, the role of Traffic Supervisor may be just right for you! **Your Responsibilities** As a Traffic Supervisor, you are an important part of city life, contributing to safety, accessibility, and a pleasant urban environment. Your presence, primarily on foot and sometimes in a patrol vehicle, is crucial for maintaining our parking regulations and traffic safety in the city. You provide a warm welcome and excellent service to the city's residents and visitors. With us, you are more of a city host than a traditional parking attendant; present and guiding, you inform and assist people in making the right choices when they visit our city. Your workday begins at the City Hall, where you will handle reporting and documentation. After that, you will typically work independently in central Västerås and nearby areas such as Lögarängen, Karlsdal, and Djäkneberget, where some of our paid parking areas are located. Occasionally, you will drive to other parts of the city for work. Your colleagues are always just a call away, and you support each other when needed. The work is independent, varied, and demands a strong sense of responsibility and good interpersonal skills. You also need to have good physical fitness, as our Traffic Supervisors walk an average of 20,000 to 25,000 steps per day. **Your Qualifications** We require you to have completed and passed a high school education. It is advantageous if you have training as a parking attendant on public streets, but if you do not have this, we will ensure you receive the training with us. It is also a plus if you speak additional languages besides Swedish and English or have experience in roles involving public authority. Since the position requires you to actively move around the city on foot, you need to be physically fit. You must also have a valid B driver's license, as driving is part of the job. To thrive with us, you should appreciate personal interactions and possess a calm, clear, and service-oriented demeanor. You understand the value of a professional approach in all situations, are attentive, and can handle challenging situations in a calm and constructive manner. **We Offer** Västerås is growing, which affects traffic and parking; therefore, we are looking for an additional colleague to join our team. Here, you will have a varied job with a lot of freedom and significant responsibility, perfect for those who enjoy being outdoors and want to be part of the city's development. In the Parking Service department, we work to ensure that our parking facilities and traffic environments feel both safe and welcoming. The team currently consists of 15 Traffic Supervisors who together cover the entire city, mostly on foot, but also with the help of our service vehicles. The unit is part of the Technical and Property Management department. With warmth and respect, we demonstrate initiative in both big and small matters. We live our values in our interactions with each other and those we serve. Every day, all year round, we ensure that Västerås functions. Together with your approximately 11,500 colleagues throughout the city, you will have Sweden's most important job. A six-month probationary period may be applied. During the interview, you will need to verify your citizenship. This can be done with a passport or a personal certificate along with an ID. If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you must demonstrate that you have a valid work permit or are exempt from the requirement to have a work permit. Employment can only occur after verification of the work permit, which is required under the Aliens Ordinance. All offers of recruitment and advertising assistance are declined.
