Hand in Hand Cooperative is a member-directed organization founded in 1995 for individuals with assistance rights. Our members are located in Skåne, Halland, Southern Småland, Västra Götaland, Stockholm, and Jämtland. We have offices in Halmstad, Hässleholm, and Malmö. We support our members with everything from applying for hours with the Swedish Social Insurance Agency/municipality to personnel matters regarding personal assistants. We believe that the work of a personal assistant is one of the most important jobs that exists, as one becomes an opportunity for another person, an opportunity that enables them to live their life like everyone else.
I am a seven-year-old girl with a muscle disease who has recently been granted personal assistance. For our newly established team, we are now seeking assistants who are genuinely interested in working with children and who have a respectful and warm approach. My assistance needs primarily involve physical aspects, which can sometimes be demanding, so we are looking for someone with good physical condition. I also have extensive mucus-related challenges, so it is important to be alert and calm enough to manage stressful situations that may arise in connection with this.
I can communicate my wishes myself, but it requires someone who is attentive and can read my body language. Most things we will learn together, as my needs, like those of everyone else, are individual. However, we prefer candidates who are trained nurses or have worked in similar roles, but most importantly, personal chemistry.
It is important to me that my assistants are happy, have imagination, and take their own initiatives so that I can have a fun and meaningful everyday life with people I can rely on.
During the day, I go to school, and my assistants will accompany me there. I would like my assistants to encourage play with my classmates while maintaining a low profile in between.
Currently, I am seeking part-time substitutes who can fill in and work when my regular assistants need time off. Work hours are scheduled both day and evening, Monday through Friday. It is important to me that you speak and understand Swedish well so that communication between us can function effectively.
