About this role
State Institutions Board (SiS) is a government agency responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for youth with complex psychosocial problems and adults with substance abuse. SiS also executes closed youth care. We do this at youth homes and facilities for adults with substance abuse across the country. At SiS, your work life will be an exciting challenge. Regardless of where you work in our organization or what position you hold, you help create vital change.
At the head office in Solna Business Park, we have approximately 350 employees, and together we work to support and develop an agency with around 4,000 employees.
Job Description
Are you attracted by contributing to a socially important mission by developing knowledge-based care and treatment for children, youth, and adults within state compulsory care? Do you have several years of experience in research at a government agency, experience leading projects and mentoring employees or colleagues? Then you might be the person we're looking for.
SiS is in the middle of extensive transformation, with operations developing on multiple levels simultaneously. We seek someone who can help us continue our ongoing change work from research funding allocation to other research funding forms in collaboration with universities and colleges. We develop and adapt our work based on new and changing needs in both society and our own organization. We know that developing and committed managers are a crucial prerequisite for managing today's and future assignments.
As Section Head/Research Director, you will have overall responsibility for developing and managing the agency's strategic work in research and evaluation, designing operational processes for planning, implementation, and follow-up, as well as providing support to the rest of the organization in these matters. You will plan, follow up, and refine the work in the section to achieve set goals.
The Research and Evaluation Section is tasked with financing external research and contributing to the development of knowledge-based care and treatment. SiS is now facing a transition where we want to increase collaboration with the research community to generate even more operationally relevant research and better disseminate new knowledge to internal employees and decision-makers.
As Section Head, you will have operational, personnel, and budget responsibility for approximately 12 employees. You will be part of the division's management team, where you, together with the division director and your fellow managers, share responsibility for the entire division's operations.

At SiS, we care about good leadership. This means that as a manager and leader, you take responsibility for the whole and realize SiS's vision and goals. You create conditions for good results and address challenges and act with courage when needed. You are a good role model and show trust in your employees' and colleagues' competence, encouraging their development and taking personal responsibility.
