About this role
Region Västerbotten works to strengthen good health and sustainable development. We take responsibility for equitable welfare and ensuring that research and innovation yield results.
Geriatric Centre is a specialized clinic for patients requiring both acute and sub-acute geriatric care and rehabilitation. A comprehensive assessment of the elderly patient's medical, physical, mental, and social functional capacity during illness, as well as activity ability, is performed by a multi-professional team, known as Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA). Diagnostics, treatment, and rehabilitation are conducted with the patient's individual needs in focus. The target group is individuals 65 years and older with multiple diseases, known as multi-morbidity, combined with the consequences of aging, requiring specialized care and rehabilitation.
At the Geriatric Centre, different professionals work together in well-functioning collaboration across and between departments. We focus on sub-acute general geriatric care and rehabilitation, including a fast-track approach for patients transferred from MAVA and the infectious disease clinic. We provide specialized psychogeriatric care, treatment, and rehabilitation for individuals with cognitive diseases and behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD), regardless of age. We also offer orthopedic geriatric acute and sub-acute care and rehabilitation, as well as outpatient services including a psychogeriatric clinic, osteoporosis clinic with bone density measurement, and specialist teams working with patients with dementia, multi-morbidity, and orthopedic conditions.
Our regular department manager will be on parental leave from March 1, 2026, and we are therefore seeking an acting department manager for Psychogeriatrics, Department 2, dementia team, clinic, and bone density measurement until September 30, 2026, with possible extension.
As a department manager at Psychogeriatrics, you will, together with an assistant department manager, lead smaller and tighter work groups that collectively form an experienced and stable team of approximately 50 employees who value close collaboration and responsibility. Together with committed and experienced colleagues, you will have the opportunity to lead and drive development while being a team player in operational and collegiate interaction. If you, like us, believe in our guiding principles of proximity, skill, and enablement, you will be a key player with us, and we look forward to your application!
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a department manager, you see the whole picture and potential and boldly move us forward.
You act as a role model, work to create shared visions and unleash action power in your operations. You challenge and question while encouraging and making your employees visible. We want to support you in being brave, open, and action-oriented. You take responsibility for your operations within your authority and represent the employer by leading and developing towards decided goals for the Region's best.
As a department manager, the operations manager is your immediate supervisor who leads and distributes work. You are part of the Geriatric Centre's management team, which means being an active participant in strategic work.
You will have close collaboration with the assistant department manager, and together you are responsible for the operations' goals and mission. You will also work closely with HR Partner, controller, other support functions, and management colleagues. We will adapt the introduction to your needs and provide opportunities for leadership development through leadership programs arranged by Region Västerbotten.
