With access to unique infrastructure and a broad scientific competence area clearly connected to societal needs and challenges, the Department's activities contribute to new solutions for global ocean challenges. The Department of Marine Sciences conducts research, education, and collaboration related to the ocean and its resources. Activities are carried out in Gothenburg, at the research stations Kristineberg Center for Marine Research and Innovation, Tjärnö Marine Laboratory, and on the research vessel Skagerak. The department has an interdisciplinary breadth covering marine biology, marine chemistry, marine geology, marine cultural heritage, and oceanography, with research spanning geographically from coastal areas to the world's oceans. Our researchers and students often play prominent roles in international expeditions in Antarctica, the Arctic, and the world's major oceans, while also working in the Swedish coastal zone and in our newly built laboratories with advanced equipment and complex analytical methods. The department offers a wide range of educational programs, including a bachelor's program, three master's programs, and doctoral education in marine sciences. Job Responsibilities The work involves ensuring that students at the Department of Marine Sciences, University of Gothenburg, complete their examinations in a legally secure manner. Responsibilities include checking that each student is registered for the current exam and has valid identification, informing about examination rules, distributing exam papers, and ensuring they are submitted correctly. After the examination, some follow-up work is required according to the exam coordinator's instructions. The invigilator must also monitor the examination to detect any potentially misleading behavior. Evening and weekend work may occur. Qualifications To be suitable for the position, you should not be a student at the same institution where you are working as an exam invigilator. You should have good knowledge of Swedish and English and be proficient with computers. Knowledge of digital examinations, examination regulations at the University of Gothenburg, and familiarity with the university's organization are advantageous. Candidates should be confident, principled, and have a service-oriented approach. Great importance will be placed on personal qualities such as thoroughness, flexibility, and ability to collaborate. Employment This is an intermittent (hourly) position starting 2026-01-01 or by agreement until 2026-12-31, based at the Department of Marine Sciences, Gothenburg. The number of working hours per month will vary based on needs.
