Sweden's most beautiful workplace is seeking Technical Manager for Icebreaker For an icebreaker currently based in Luleå The Mission of the Icebreakers The Swedish Maritime Administration's icebreakers play a crucial role in maintaining maritime traffic during the winter months. Through icebreaker assistance, we ensure that commercial shipping can navigate even under challenging ice conditions in our fairways. During the ice-free part of the year, the icebreakers contribute to other important missions such as fairway maintenance, repairs of maritime safety equipment, and other technical interventions along the coast. Our current Technical Manager is moving on internally, and we are looking for their replacement. Responsibilities As the Technical Manager, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the vessel. You have overall responsibility for budget monitoring and resource utilization within the framework of vessel operations, as well as a clear responsibility for the work environment – ensuring that the onboard work environment is safe, inclusive, and compliant with applicable legislation. The work is carried out in accordance with the vessel's quality system, and you will manage documentation in the maintenance system. You will also be responsible for training and coaching new staff and have personnel responsibility for everyone in your department. You will be employed by the Swedish Maritime Administration's Shipping Company, which means you may be required to serve on any of the icebreakers in the fleet as needed. To be considered for the role of Technical Manager, you must have: • Qualified Marine Engineer • Valid medical certificate for seafarers • Several years of experience as a senior officer • Good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing • Certificates for basic safety training • Certificates for advanced firefighting • Certificates for rescue boats and emergency boats • Certificates for basic first aid training It is advantageous if you have: • Experience in icebreaker operations • Experience with control and monitoring systems as well as PMS systems • Experience with maintenance systems • Experience with diesel-electric propulsion • Worked with ISM and quality systems We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities.
