About this role
Do you want to work in an organization that aims to improve the living conditions for children? Would you like to be part of developing our efforts to give children the power of words and a platform to act for more children? Do you have a passionate interest in the community?
About the Reading Promotion Institute
The Reading Promotion Institute (LFI) is an organization that promotes social sustainability and social mobility through its open reading, literature, and cultural promotion activities. The target audience is children and their adults, primarily those living in socioeconomically disadvantaged areas. Being an open organization means that activities are free of charge, accessible, and do not require prior registration. LFI is a non-profit organization that has been active since 2015 (formerly Reading for Integration). We are located in Södertälje, in Järva, and will soon open in Gothenburg. In addition to our open activities, LFI conducts programs in schools, art and theater projects for youth, and provides training for educators and librarians in the LFI method. Our operations should be understood as a social, cultural, and educational endeavor where all components contribute to achieving our vision: "All children should have the power of words and a platform to act upon." Each week, children, accompanied by adults, come to the Reading Land to collaboratively bring a new book to life with LFI coaches/educators through our four-dimensional reading method. The method consists of four parts:
1) The Book
2) The Narrator's Voice
3) Improvisational Theater
4) Children's Co-Creation.
After each reading, a subsequent workshop is offered where the book is expressed through other artistic forms. Throughout all activities and interactions with participants, our mission is to equip and empower individuals for language development, identity, and democratic tools. This is achieved through co-creation, empowerment, and representation. Representation is found through language, books, and the people behind the characters.
