About this role
Are you an experienced theater educator or new to the profession? Regardless, we believe that those driven by enriching children's and young people's leisure time will thrive with us. Apply for a temporary position as a theater educator at the Cultural School!
About the Position
In the role of theater educator, you will take over one of our existing theater groups and lead it one evening a week in the Cultural School's facilities. In addition, you will work with Cultural Leisure, where you will, together with a colleague, visit after-school activities at schools and youth centers, working with different themes. We strive to develop collaboration between subjects and art forms, so the colleagues you work with may vary depending on the theme. Currently, we are working with animation, where you will collaborate with an image educator. This position offers ample opportunities for collegial support and learning. You will be part of the Storytelling team, where you will have 8 colleagues, most of whom work in theater, but there are also educators in film and creative writing. Work is scheduled for Tuesday evenings and Thursday/Friday afternoons. During January-February, the position will also include work on a theater theme at OP City School and have a temporarily higher employment rate of an additional 20% with work on Wednesdays.
Example Work Tasks:
• Plan, implement, and evaluate theater instruction and cultural leisure activities for elementary school-aged children
• Create a good learning environment and support students' social development
• Collaborate with other forms of expression
• Participate in outreach activities
• Contribute to the development of the organization
About the Workplace
The Cultural School's three main tasks are collaboration with preschool and school, urban development, and subject courses in visual arts, dance, music, film, writing, and theater. We also offer courses for children and youth with disabilities and courses in sign language. Our goal is to create a social space where people can meet and enrich their leisure time. We have beautiful newly built facilities centrally located near Svartån. We work extensively on projects and have collaborations and meetings with other teachers throughout the county.
