About this role
Västerås City has removed the cover letter requirement from the application process. We do this to create a better and more equitable recruitment process. When you submit your application, you will be asked to respond to a number of questions that will become an important part of our selection work.
Do you have the courage to see opportunities in change and the willingness to make a difference? As a team leader at the Adult Reception, you will work closely with an engaged team, drive development, and help shape the future of social services in Västerås.
Your Responsibilities
The Adult Reception belongs to the Housing Social Unit and also serves as an entry point to the Adult Unit. Here, we meet individuals who have difficulty finding housing in the regular housing market and people with substance abuse or dependency issues. The operation is divided into several teams, with a total of four team leaders who collectively contribute to the unit's development.
As a team leader, you will serve as a supportive and consultative sounding board for social workers in their daily tasks. You are responsible for distributing work assignments, creating structure, and following up on work with employees. In daily practice, you will guide complex cases, make swift and well-considered decisions, and show courage when needed to challenge or advance important issues. You will be part of the management team and work closely with other team leaders and unit managers. Together, you will drive the unit's quality and development work with a focus on legal security, professionalism, and continuous improvement. An important part of the role is also to contribute to collaboration, both internally within social services and externally with other stakeholders.
Your Qualifications
You have a degree in social work or another equivalent bachelor's degree combined with education in social law. You have experience in administrative duties within social services and feel confident applying the Social Services Act, LVM, and LVU in your work. Experience with rental legislation is an advantage. The role requires you to express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish, as you will handle conversations and documentation that place high demands on clarity and legal security.
We are looking for a team leader who easily creates trust and engagement. With a genuine interest in leadership and organizational development, you are motivated by coaching, guiding, and supporting others to become independent in their roles. You see opportunities in change, take responsibility, and contribute to stability and consensus within the team. Previous experience in a supervisory role or in organizational development is considered a plus.
We Offer
We offer you a meaningful assignment where you can contribute to developing the future of social services for adults in Västerås. Here you will encounter a knowledgeable team where cooperation, care, and community are at the center. You will receive a secure introduction, access to mentorship support, and a flexible workplace that values the balance between work and leisure. Our premises in the Social Services House provide good opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange with other operations.
We believe in trust and freedom under responsibility. This means that you will plan your own workday, have flexible hours, and have the possibility to work remotely some of the time.
