Coast Guard (Kustbevakningen) is a civil state emergency authority responsible for maritime surveillance and sea rescue on behalf of the government and parliament. With its maritime capabilities, the Coast Guard is also an important authority in Sweden's total defense. A crucial part of the maritime surveillance mission is to ensure security in Sweden's maritime zones. This is done through crime prevention, monitoring, and order maintenance activities. The Coast Guard's rescue service mission encompasses a broad spectrum of rescue interventions, including environmental rescue operations during accidents or spills and rescue operations during maritime emergencies or distress situations. The Coast Guard is a maritime hub that ensures a civilian maritime situational awareness for Sweden and provides other authorities access to the maritime capabilities they need for their missions. Description The Coast Guard's IT department is located in Karlskrona, Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmö. The department is responsible for developing and operating systems used by all parts of the Coast Guard, supporting both operational and administrative activities. We strive to continuously develop to meet a rapidly changing environment. This transformation occurs in a complex IT environment with high demands for security and availability. The IT department is divided into four units: client and support, IT infrastructure, IT security, and application development and IT support. Within the application development and IT support unit, we are now seeking a system developer to develop and maintain solutions and integration platforms between different business systems. Job Responsibilities The Coast Guard's rapid digital development, with many new systems and applications, involves process changes and the need for system support. Several initiatives are underway within the authority to establish new capabilities both internally and with external parties. Efficient and secure information exchange in system integrations is a crucial factor. As a system developer, you will design, develop, and test integration solutions on the authority's integration platform, including creating entirely new integration flows and modifying existing ones. The work takes place in a development team in close dialogue with system owners, IT architects, project managers, IT technicians, and business stakeholders. As a system developer, you may also participate in other development teams for the Coast Guard's in-house developed business systems. High quality and security are consistently prioritized in all development work within the authority. Qualifications We are looking for someone who has: - Academic education in computer engineering, systems science, software development, or other education and/or experience that the Coast Guard deems equivalent. - Current professional experience and several years of experience working as a system developer with system integrations and API development. - Experience developing web applications in .NET environment with experience in C# and SQL. - Good understanding of message handling and integration patterns. - Experience with data modeling and database integration. - Proficiency in working in an agile environment, both independently and in teams. - Good skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written. Additional merits include: - Ability to analyze integration needs and design robust, scalable solutions. - Experience with architecture and design patterns for integration solutions. - Experience with monitoring and log management. - Knowledge of CI/CD, version control, testing, and build/deployment flow automation. - Experience documenting technical solutions. As a system developer at the Coast Guard, you need the ability to gain a holistic view with a good understanding of IT's role in the organization from both a technical perspective and a user perspective. The role involves close dialogue with system owners and various stakeholders, requiring excellent communication and collaboration skills. Terms This is a permanent position with a six-month probationary period. Start date to be determined. Location: Karlskrona. Employment requires Swedish citizenship, a valid driver's license, drug testing, and security clearance according to the Security Protection Act. Tests may be used as part of the selection process. The Coast Guard participates in international missions and interventions. The position therefore includes an obligation to serve abroad when required by the operation.
