ABOUT THE POSITION

The university's IT environment is complex and spans numerous work areas such as support, operations, management, and development, aiming to provide better IT support for the university's various activities.
About the Role
As a Systems Technician at Linnaeus University, you'll become part of a dedicated team within operations and infrastructure responsible for ensuring the university's complex IT environment remains stable, modern, and secure. You'll play a central role in delivering, maintaining, and developing their services and systems. This ranges from servers, storage, and security solutions to cloud-based platforms like Microsoft 365 and Azure. You'll join the operations and infrastructure section, currently consisting of 13 people: 11 system technicians, an infrastructure architect, and an IT architect. In total, approximately 60 employees work in the IT department, distributed between Växjö and Kalmar.
At Linnaeus University, the work involves much more than just operations. You'll help drive a transition from manual routines to automated and cloud-based solutions. You'll contribute to creating efficient and future-proof IT conditions for students, teachers, and researchers. The role also involves taking technical responsibility for selected components, planning upgrades, performing maintenance, and participating in projects and assignments with your colleagues. The role includes some scheduled on-call duty for business-critical systems during evenings and weekends.
In your daily work, you'll work closely with your colleagues, where collaboration and team spirit are strong, collectively taking responsibility for operations, development, and security – areas central to the university's journey.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR YOU WHO
- Have relevant work experience from a similar role in a large IT environment, preferably with in-depth experience in backup and storage solutions and virtualization
- Strong knowledge of installation, administration, and operation of Windows servers
- Experience with Microsoft platforms, especially Microsoft 365, Azure, and Active Directory
- Good skills in Swedish and English, both spoken and written
It is meritorious if you have
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field
- Security expertise or experience working with IT security in larger environments
- Knowledge of automation and scripting, e.g., PowerShell
