About this role
System Engineer – Data Fusion for the Defense Industry
Would you like to develop the decision support systems of the future and contribute to a safer society? We are looking for someone who wants to work at the forefront of technology – with sensor data, advanced signal processing, and system development – in a role where you can influence the entire chain from requirements to testing.
About the Role
As a System Engineer in Data Fusion, you will become a key person in our client's technical development projects. You will be responsible for the interface between technical development and system design, where you translate physical phenomena and sensor information into mathematical models and requirements for further development.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Modeling and describing sensor systems and system interfaces
- Participating in requirements formulation, system architecture, and technical planning
- Working with algorithms and data processing in areas such as radar, signal intelligence, and AI integration
- Writing and reviewing code in C++, Java, or Python (approximately 15% of the job)
- Supporting project managers, developers, and other technical specialists
- Working on multiple parallel projects in naval, land, air, or space systems
About the Project
Our client's Data Fusion solutions are central to modern command and control systems used by actors within total defense. By combining information from multiple sensors – such as radar, AIS, and signal intelligence equipment – a coherent and reliable situational picture is created in real-time. The systems are used, for example, for monitoring airspace, water areas, and other critical environments, with the aim of providing the right decision support at the right time.
Team & Culture
You will join a section that drives digitalization and AI integration within high-tech system development. Your immediate team consists of system engineers, project managers, and developers – with various backgrounds in technical physics, data, electrical engineering, and mathematics. The team works closely across areas of expertise. The culture is characterized by openness, knowledge sharing, and technical curiosity.
Your Profile
To thrive and succeed in the role, we believe you are someone who easily sees patterns in complex information and is driven by transforming ambiguity into clarity. You are curious, eager to learn, and enjoy acquiring new knowledge – particularly in dialogue with other areas of expertise. Collaboration is an inherent part of your working style. You communicate openly, take initiative, and contribute to creating an environment where different perspectives are welcomed. You have good self-leadership, are structured, and possess a desire to contribute long-term – both to the team's success and to socially beneficial technical solutions.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in fields such as technical physics, technical mathematics, computer engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or similar
- Some years of experience in a relevant field, such as system engineering, technical project management, or requirements management
- Proficient in both Swedish and English, in verbal and written communication
The position requires security clearance. Prior to employment, you must undergo a security review and be approved according to applicable security regulations. Note: This involves citizenship requirements.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in software development, testing, or verification
- PhD in physics, mathematics, or systems engineering
