Job Description: System Engineer at METOCC
We are seeking a System Engineer for the Method and System Department, where we develop and operate the Weather Service System for the Swedish Armed Forces.
As a System Engineer, you will work in groups, projects, and individually to develop, operate, and manage the Weather Service system and system capabilities. The work will primarily be in-house but will also involve collaboration with other parts of the Swedish Armed Forces, FMV, and subcontractors.
Main Responsibilities:
• Participate in the operation and management of the Weather Service System, including system readiness
• Develop the Weather Service System – network-side and system support development
• Participate in internal and external projects with FMV
Qualifications:
• Higher education in systems science or computer technology, or equivalent long-term experience
• Documented experience working with servers and clients in Linux and Windows environments
• Knowledge of networks and experience managing CISCO products
• Knowledge of AD and DNS
• Valid driver's license (B-license)
Advantageous Experience:
• Server virtualization
• Firewall experience (Färist 4 and Palo Alto)
• IT security background
• Test and development process experience
• Web and script programming
• HPC work experience
• Project management, preferably agile
• Programming in C# and/or Python
• Familiarity with Swedish Armed Forces IT systems and infrastructure
Personal Characteristics:
You are driven, independent, and able to take initiative. You are responsible, detail-oriented, analytical, and collaborative. You can work unpretentiously in a team and are willing to share knowledge and experiences. Proficiency in Swedish and English is required. A strong IT security mindset is essential.
