Our Department
70AB is a department spread across two floors. Orthopedic Ward 70A is on floor 8 and 70B on floor 7 at entrance 70.
At 70A, we primarily have an acute patient intake treated pre- and post-operatively for various fracture types, i.e., injuries from traumas. Some patients might have cut themselves at work, broken a bone on a ski trip, or been in a high-energy traffic accident. Other patients might have suffered a hip fracture after a fall or require amputation due to an infection. Thus, our patient clientele varies in age and underlying conditions. We also have physicians specialized in complicated pelvic fractures and complex hand surgical procedures, which means we receive patients from large parts of the country.
At 70B, a large part of our planned care takes place. Here, we help patients with arthrosis requiring prosthetic supply in hip, knee, or shoulder joints. The acute intake primarily consists of patients with traumatic spine and neck fractures, large herniated discs requiring urgent surgery, or patients with infections needing both antibiotic treatment and surgical intervention. We have physicians highly specialized in prosthetic and spinal surgery, which means we also provide national and regional healthcare.
Patient stays vary and can range from one day to several weeks. We work in teams with professionals such as: nurses, nursing assistants, pharmacists, counselors, junior doctors, specialist physicians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and medical secretaries.
With us, you'll gain broad knowledge about orthopedic patients and pre- and post-operative care. Besides the orthopedic condition, many of our patients also have other background diseases that may require treatment. This provides you with extensive medical knowledge.
Your Competence
We're seeking nursing students starting their 6th semester. You're interested in working in an orthopedic surgical ward with medical breadth and want to start working at Ward 70AB after completing your degree. We place great importance on personal suitability, such as being responsible and motivated in your work. You have a flexible and curious approach and good collaborative skills.
We Offer
We offer a permanent employment as care assistant. Upon submitting your license, the employment will be converted to a permanent position as a nurse.
You commit to working with us for 12 months after completing your degree. There's an opportunity to work as a nursing assistant during your studies, but it's not required. Your new position will, unless otherwise agreed, involve full-time work with duty hours throughout the day, so-called rotation service. Probationary employment may be applied.
We offer benefits that make a difference, read about them here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/).
