Käppala School is a successful F-9 school with approximately 550 wonderful students and around 60 dedicated staff members. Founded in 1954, the school boasts bright, well-equipped facilities surrounded by scenic nature reserves, green spaces, lakes, and the sea. Our vision is for all our students to leave school in grade 9 feeling secure in life and prepared for the future, having developed academically, socially, and emotionally. JOB DESCRIPTION
Are you an engaged and visionary study and career counselor passionate about guiding young people towards their future dreams? Then you might be the person we are looking for at Käppala School.
As a study and career counselor (SYV) with us, you will be the central figure in supporting our students in their educational and career choices. The role involves instilling a sense of future possibilities in students and providing them with tools to recognize their opportunities. The work entails a great deal of independent planning and organization, but you will also collaborate with and through other professionals in the unit to create a safe and challenging environment for the students.
Your main responsibilities include:
• Overall responsibility F-9: Lead the school’s need for study and career guidance in grades F-9 at a general level; lead and guide the school’s educators in integrating the SYV perspective into teaching.
• Group guidance and information: Plan and conduct information meetings, classroom activities, and theme days focused on studies, professions, and the job market.
• Coordination: Be responsible for and coordinate the process regarding students' work experience in grade 8 and preparations for high school choices in grade 9.
• Collaboration: Maintain and develop contacts with the SYV network in the municipality, high schools, authorities, and the local business community.
• Student health: Be an active part of the Student Health Team (EHT) and contribute your specialist expertise.
• Individual guidance: Conduct individual counseling sessions with students to promote well-founded and non-gender-stereotypical choices.

QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who has:
• A degree in study and career counseling or equivalent higher education.
• Experience working as a SYV in primary school.
• Good knowledge of current governing documents (Education Act, curricula) as well as the education system and job market.
• Excellent ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in Swedish, as well as to use digital tools in the work.
