Job Responsibilities
As a strategic buyer, you will work in a modern procurement organization where you are expected to take clear responsibility. The role involves project managing the entire procurement process, from needs analysis to implementation and contract follow-up.
Your duties will include contract follow-up and building business dialogues with suppliers and internal purchasers. Based on our common goals, you will provide a business-oriented and resource-efficient procurement process and serve as a knowledge resource on issues relating to procurement law, business strategy, and stakeholder management.
In this role, you are expected to handle a variety of tasks, both strategic and more administrative. Depending on your previous experience and preferences, there is an opportunity to develop the content of the position, as we want you to thrive and grow with us.
As a strategic buyer, you will belong to the procurement unit, which is one of three units within the procurement operation and consists of approximately 20 buyers, investment coordinators, and contract controllers. In this role, you will also be part of a category-managed procurement team alongside other roles such as operational buyers, tactical buyers, and category leaders.
About the Workplace
Procurement is a shared central function for both Region Sörmland and Region Västmanland. This means that we are responsible for the regions' procurements of goods, services, and construction contracts with a procurable spend of approximately 9 billion SEK per year.
The procurement operation is a resource in the form of business support for all types of procurement issues. We also have overall responsibility for e-commerce in Region Sörmland. Our locations are in Region Sörmland and Region Västmanland. We work category-managed, which means we group our purchases based on the supplier market to achieve maximum benefit. Together, we work to develop the procurement operation through effective resource use to support the regions' operations for a balanced economy.
The procurement unit works together in four category-based procurement teams. Currently, the procurement operation consists of 42 employees with extensive knowledge and commitment to the entire procurement process. Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a degree from a university/college in economics, IT, law, engineering, or healthcare, or equivalent post-secondary education, such as vocational training, university courses, or other courses, combined with relevant work experience in the field. A degree in IT, law, or medical technology is advantageous. Ideally, you have experience working in procurement and procurement processes and have participated in procurement projects within IT and medical technology, applying LOU/LUF in public operations. If you have independently conducted procurements or otherwise worked within procurement and procurement processes applying LOU/LUF, it is a merit, as is experience in market analysis and business strategy development in procurement. We require proficiency in the Swedish language, with the ability to express oneself well in both spoken and written forms. Additionally, understanding and ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, is a merit.

You can easily create structure and prioritize and focus on the right tasks when managing multiple assignments and collaborations simultaneously. In this role, you need to understand and apply both business and legal principles and have a strategic perspective. In your projects, you collaborate within the procurement unit and with other employees in both Region Sörmland and Region Västmanland.
