About this role

We are looking for someone who wants to be an educational key person – someone who is passionate about supporting both participants and colleagues in their development. What do we offer? As an employee of Karlsborg Municipality, you will benefit from a range of advantages that contribute to security, balance, and development in the workplace. You will receive paid vacation starting from your first year of employment, along with individual salary setting that reflects your competence and experience. We know that our employees are our most important resource, and we strive to create the best conditions for a sustainable and thriving work life. Therefore, we invest in a wide range of wellness offerings, including free swimming lessons and water aerobics, opportunities for free massages, as well as wellness allowances or wellness hours – depending on the organization’s and your own circumstances. In addition, there are several other benefits that employees may be entitled to. You can read more about them at https://www.karlsborg.se/naringsliv--arbete/jobba-hos-oss/formaner/. Workplace The Social Administration in Karlsborg is responsible for elderly care, care for people with disabilities, municipal health and medical care, as well as individual and family support. The administration employs approximately 250 staff members in total. We work with a user-oriented approach where operations are guided and based on the needs of the users. The Social Administration in Karlsborg Municipality operates based on a shared ethical foundation guided by the principles of respect, interaction, and self-determination. The disability services carry out all the interventions regulated by LSS (the Act on Support and Service for Certain Disabled Persons), which include special accommodation and daily activities. The primary task of the service is to promote equality in living conditions and full participation in community life for people with disabilities. Job Description We are now expanding our team in daily activities with a support educator, and we will also fill a position as a support educator within the group home, following a staff member's decision to pursue other work. As a support educator, you will be part of a team and will be scheduled according to the needs of the service, which may include evening and weekend shifts. You will be part of a network with other support educators in the area, where, together with your unit manager, you will plan and drive quality work forward within the service area. In your role, you will support, plan, mentor, and inspire your colleagues in the pedagogical work while developing the operations in collaboration with management and coworkers. The position offers a developing and challenging role with significant responsibility to independently drive processes and issues forward, supported by the unit manager and other support educators in the network. You will be responsible for developing social documentation, implementation plans, and pedagogical development work at both individual and group levels, where the participation and needs of the users are central. You will support users in their daily lives by creating a predictable, manageable, and comprehensible environment, providing professional support by empowering users in their daily routines and creating opportunities for development and an independent life. All work is based on the individually established implementation plan of the user. We are currently filling positions as support educators within daily activities and the group home Boken, but the role of support educator includes supporting all of the unit's employees in their assignments within the LSS area. Qualifications We are looking for someone who has a post-secondary specialization in the field of disabilities with a pedagogical focus, covering at least 200 YH credits or 60 higher education credits, or a combination that corresponds to at least two semesters of full-time study. You are confident and stable in yourself and in your professional role, as well as possessing good self-awareness. You have the ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor employees within the organization for a collaborative active effort centered on the needs of the users. A requirement is that you have good knowledge of communication, both spoken and written, in the Swedish language. You should be calm, responsible, proactive, and self-driven, with a solid ability to lead, coach, and support colleagues. You will also need to have a strong commitment and passion for your work, as well as the ability to responsibly carry out decisions and agreements. Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, obsessive-compulsive disorder, low-arousal approaches, and clarification pedagogy is a plus. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. As a support educator, you will apply an ethical approach that promotes the individual’s self-determination, integrity, and participation.
