Residential Support in Backa implements decisions regarding residential support with a specific focus on target groups within social psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, and dual diagnosis.

The unit consists of approximately 25 employees, of which 2 are educators. Our base is at Rimmaregatan.

About the Role as a Residential Support Worker:

As a residential support worker, you provide home-based support to individuals within a broad and varied target group. You will encounter people with mental health conditions, such as personality disorders, as well as individuals with neuropsychiatric diagnoses, dual diagnoses, and substance abuse issues.
The role requires you to work independently, take great responsibility, and maintain a pedagogical and motivational approach. You contribute to helping individuals harness their own resources and achieve change in their daily lives. The interventions may include:

  • Practical and social support at home
  • Establishing and maintaining structure and routines
  • Strengthening social connections
  • Promoting meaningful engagement
  • Breaking isolation
  • Working preventively against eviction

You will play a central role in collaborating with social workers and other actors such as healthcare providers and the Swedish Social Insurance Agency. Social documentation and the preparation of implementation plans are important parts of the assignment. Together with your colleagues, you will continuously evaluate and follow up on interventions with the aim of developing the unit.

To perform the work effectively and flexibly, you will have access to your own work computer and a company phone.

The working hours are predominantly during the day, but shifts until around 10:00 PM may occur once a week based on individual needs.

About You

We are looking for someone with a degree in Healthcare and Social Work, a supporting assistant training, or a degree in Children and Youth studies with a focus on social or educational work, or other education that the employer deems equivalent.

Communication and documentation are essential parts of the work, which requires you to have passed Swedish 1 or Swedish as a Second Language 1. If you do not meet the qualification requirements in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a Second Language 1, you may be offered a language test through the test provider Educateit.

A minimum of two years of experience in substance abuse and mental health work is required.

Experience with the following methods is advantageous for the position:

  • MI (Motivational Interviewing)

Experience or knowledge in IBIC (Individual Needs in Focus) and LAB (Low Arousal Approach) is a requirement. Experience in working with substance abuse and mental health issues is also a requirement. We consider it advantageous if you have prior experience working with the target group within Neurodevelopmental Disorders.

You have a good understanding of how individuals acquire knowledge and their varying conditions. You adapt your communication method to the recipient.
You work well with others by listening, showing interest, and respecting them. You understand the common mission and work to make it as effective as possible.
You plan, organize, and prioritize your work efficiently. You ensure that work is completed on time and follow up on the results.
You are motivated to learn new things and develop. You bring new ideas and take the initiative to propose improvements. You actively monitor developments in your professional area and regularly reflect on what needs to be improved in your operations.
