Bäckebro Short-Term Residence caters to children and youth under 18 years old with various diagnoses and disabilities. During their stay with us, children have their own room. Bäckebro has six spots. Here, children and youth experience a meaningful, safe, and fun leisure time. Activities are adapted to needs, interests, and wishes. We encourage community through activities like excursions, giving children opportunities to interact and develop social skills. Each child receives an implementation plan with goals that contribute to development and well-being. Support pedagogues and support assistants work at Bäckebro.
We work climate-smartly for a sustainable environment. Children and youth participate according to their abilities by helping improve indoor and outdoor environments. They also learn about cultivation and recycling. We are certified with the Green Flag.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Are you a secure and engaged person who enjoys working with children/youth and supporting them according to their individual needs? Great! Then this might be the job for you. We are now seeking two support assistants for Bäckebro Short-Term Residence. Together, we make Gävle meaningful!
As a support assistant, you are responsible for ensuring children/youth receive support based on their specific needs. You closely collaborate with children's/youth's guardians or other actors such as school, child and youth habilitation, or adult habilitation. Together with them and based on children's/youth's wishes and participation, we design the best possible support for each individual.
Work is planned according to children's/youth's implementation plans, and you should be able to work independently while also collaborating with colleagues. You participate in and support children/youth in all residence activities, both indoor and outdoor. The role includes everything from support with cooking, cleaning, care, personal hygiene, leisure activities to social and administrative contacts. Accompanying children/youth to their leisure activities may also be required. Bäckebro is staffed 24/7, which means your work hours will be according to schedule - day, evening, weekend, and nights. Current positions are 75%, but there is room for dialogue about this.
QUALIFICATIONS
We seek candidates with education as a support assistant, care and nursing program, or Child and Leisure Program with a focus on social work. You have experience working with children and youth with disabilities. Furthermore, you have experience or training in clarifying pedagogy and good knowledge of alternative communication methods. For example, TEACCH, support signs, sign language support, or pictograms. You can adapt communication based on individual needs and conditions. The work includes medical and social documentation, requiring good Swedish language skills and computer proficiency as documentation is IT-based.
Meritorious for the position are experiences working with disability variations under LSS and training or experience in low-affective approach. Having or having had medical delegation is also meritorious.
