Are you a law student looking to gain practical experience in court work? Are you perhaps considering a future within the legal system? We welcome you to apply for a summer internship at Ă–stersund District Court.
We offer you
As a summer law clerk, you will gain valuable insight into the court's operations in the general department. The tasks largely correspond to those performed by newly hired law clerks at the court. You will see how practical court work is conducted and receive general training in legal analysis and methodology. The overarching goal of the summer internship is to provide the summer law clerk with insight into the daily court work as well as the various cases and matters that arise in a district court. This will primarily occur through your participation in practical work, such as taking minutes during both criminal and civil proceedings, drafting judgments, conducting legal research, and, to some extent, preparing cases and matters. Other tasks that occur at the court may also be included in the position.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is studying in the law program and has completed courses in procedural law as well as criminal and civil law, but you should not have completed your education before the summer.
You have good grades from completed parts of your legal education as well as strong proficiency in the Swedish language, both spoken and written. You convey information clearly and simply, both orally and in writing. Other important qualities include attention to detail, analytical ability, good collaboration skills, and the ability to organize and plan your work independently.
Other Information
The summer law clerk position is a fixed-term employment for eight weeks during the summer of 2026, based in the general department. To process your application, you need to attach your transcripts along with your CV and cover letter. It is important that you fill in all fields in the digital application tool.
Interviews are generally not conducted for this short position, and significant weight will be placed on your cover letter and how you justify your interest in working as a summer law clerk at our court. However, telephone interviews may be considered.
