About the Job
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated barn manager for our research farm, which houses approximately 100 dairy cows and has personnel responsibility for seven individuals. The farm conducts both commercial production and research projects focused on sustainability, animal welfare, and efficient milk production. We offer an exciting and varied role where practical work meets research.
Your main responsibilities will include:
• Leading and planning the daily operations in the barn
• Ensuring good animal health, production, and animal welfare in line with the farm's goals
• Being responsible for budgeting, personnel, and operational planning, including work environment and scheduling
• Collaborating with researchers on trials, sampling, and data collection
• Contributing to the development of new working methods, technologies, and routines in production
Your Background
We are looking for someone who:
• Has experience in dairy production with leadership or operational responsibility
• Has experience in leading and developing others and creating structure in daily work
• Has an interest in research, development, and improvement efforts within agriculture
• Is solution-oriented, meticulous, and committed to animal welfare
• Has good computer skills
• Has an education in agriculture
• Can speak and write good Swedish and speak English
Experience with personnel and budget responsibility is an advantage.
About Us
Röbäcksdalen Research Barn is part of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Umeå. Here, both research and education in dairy production are conducted, striving to create a high-quality environment for both animals and people. In addition to dairy production, there is extensive crop cultivation on 250 hectares. The farm collaborates with SLU's animal facility in Uppsala, which houses cows, pigs, and poultry.
