About this role
Region Västerbotten works to strengthen good health and sustainable development. We take responsibility for equitable welfare and ensuring that research and innovation deliver results.
The Musculoskeletal Center is a university healthcare unit with operations in Umeå and approximately 225 employees. Together with the Surgical and Orthopedic Clinics in Skellefteå and Lycksele, we are responsible for all orthopedic care in the county.
The Musculoskeletal Center in Umeå is a University Healthcare Unit (USVE) where research and student supervision are a natural part of the daily clinical work.
Our diverse activities at the Musculoskeletal Center are seen as stimulating by our staff, as the operations are divided into different sections that provide varied work and a medical knowledge base. We have a wide and deep operation that encompasses everything from assessments of patients' orthopedic problems, both acute and elective. This occurs in emergency care, outpatient clinics, hospital wards including our newly opened Clinical Education Ward (KUA), and in surgery with extensive orthopedic surgery for fracture/trauma, spine, prosthetics, tumors, ankle/foot, shoulder, knee, sports, and pediatric orthopedics.
We are now seeking Specialty Trainees for the Orthopedic Section at the Musculoskeletal Center in Umeå!
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Specialty Trainee with us, you contribute to taking good care of others and helping people feel better. You work both at our clinic and on the ward and during surgeries. The work is varied, and you play an important role around the patient. In addition to medical work, the job is about developing relationships and being a compassionate human being, both for our patients and their relatives, as well as towards our staff.
In addition to the specialty-specific program with specialized courses and training, the Specialty Trainee also participates in a so-called LEKA training. A program focusing on leadership, economics, communication, administration, ethics, and time for personal reflection for Specialty Trainees within Region Västerbotten. You will be assigned a supervisor for your entire specialty training.
On-call duty is included in the Specialty Trainee position. You will also be placed at the Orthopedic Clinic in Skellefteå/Surgical Center Southern Lapland Lycksele for a 3-6 month period during your training. This is to give you a chance to take advantage of the smaller hospital's advantages with high-volume standard orthopedic assessments and surgeries.
