Laboratory Medicine is a regional organization with operations in Lycksele, Skellefteå, and Umeå. Through agreements, we have total responsibility for clinical pathology in Östersund, as well as medical management responsibility for immunology and transfusion medicine, clinical chemistry, and clinical microbiology. Laboratory Medicine Västerbotten comprises approximately 500 employees in clinical genetics, clinical immunology and transfusion medicine, clinical chemistry, clinical microbiology, and clinical pathology. Biobank, healthcare hygiene, and tissue establishment are also part of Laboratory Medicine. The organization is accredited.
Clinical Microbiology is a modern, well-functioning department with highly engaged and competent staff. Active research is conducted in close collaboration with the university. Our operations are focused on meeting the requirements of highly specialized healthcare and maintaining expertise in several diagnostic areas. The clinic continuously develops and improves, facing many challenges regarding diagnostics, automation, digitalization, instrumentation, and changing work methods.
DUTIES
The specialty-specific program consists of clinical service at Clinical Microbiology, Laboratory Medicine in Umeå, as well as supplementary placements and courses relevant to the specialty.
In addition to the specialty-specific program, you as a Resident Physician will also participate in LEKA training. A program focusing on leadership, economics, communication, administration, ethics, and time for personal reflection for Resident Physicians within Region Västerbotten.
You will actively participate in daily operations, including medical assessment, method development, and quality assurance.
You will receive guidance from experienced specialists and have the opportunity to participate in teaching and research.
As a Resident Physician with us, you contribute to taking good care of others and helping people feel better.
QUALIFICATIONS
You have a Swedish medical license with authorization to practice in Swedish healthcare by the start date.
You have an interest in specializing in laboratory medicine and microbiological diagnostics. We place great emphasis on personal suitability and good collaborative abilities.
Previous work in infection diagnostics or laboratory operations is meritorious.
You should have excellent Swedish language skills in speech and writing at level C1. Good English skills and basic computer skills are meritorious.
Medical license and relevant specialist certifications will be verified through the National Board of Health and Welfare (HOSP) upon application.
