Laboratory Medicine is a county organization with operations in Lycksele, Skellefteå, and Umeå. Through agreements, we have total responsibility for clinical pathology in Östersund and medical management for immunology and transfusion medicine, clinical chemistry, and clinical microbiology. Laboratory Medicine Västerbotten comprises approximately 500 employees in clinical genetics, clinical immunology and transfusion medicine, clinical chemistry, clinical microbiology, and clinical pathology. Biobank, healthcare hygiene, and tissue establishment are also part of Laboratory Medicine. The operation is accredited.
Clinical Chemistry is located at Norrland University Hospital in Umeå and at regional hospitals in Lycksele and Skellefteå. Clinical Chemistry has 135 employees, most of whom are based in Umeå. Parts of the operation are open 24/7, and clinical chemistry in the county provides over 7 million analysis results annually. The analysis portfolio consists of approximately 300 different analyses, most of which are performed on automated multi-analyzers.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Specialist Training (ST) Physician with us, you contribute knowledge and commitment that makes people feel secure.
Working as a physician in clinical chemistry is highly varied, with tasks of both urgent and long-term strategic nature. Please review additional information in the brochure:

You actively participate in daily operations with medical assessments, method development, and quality assurance. You will receive guidance from experienced specialists and have opportunities to participate in teaching and research.
In addition to the specialty-specific program, the ST physician will also participate in a LEKA training program. This is a program focusing on leadership, economics, communication, administration, ethics, and time for personal reflection for ST physicians within Region Västerbotten.
QUALIFICATIONS
You have a Swedish medical license with authorization to practice in Swedish healthcare no later than the start date. You have an interest in specializing in clinical chemistry and preferably have experience with or curiosity about technology and digitalization. We place great emphasis on personal suitability and good collaborative abilities.
It is an advantage if you have knowledge of laboratory operations, research experience, or have a doctoral degree. Previous work in the field of Clinical Chemistry is meritorious.
You should have excellent Swedish language skills in speech and writing at C1 level. Good English skills and basic computer skills are meritorious.
Medical license and relevant specialist certificates will be verified through the National Board of Health and Welfare (HOSP) upon application receipt.
