Surgical Center, Norrland University Hospital is responsible for highly specialized surgery in the northern healthcare region, covering the four northernmost counties, as well as surgery within Region Västerbotten in collaboration with Lycksele and Skellefteå. The clinic is divided into breast and endocrine, vascular, colorectal, upper gastrointestinal, and urology sections. Our comprehensive activities at the Surgical Center cover both routine surgery and highly specialized care, offering opportunities for varied work and a broad medical knowledge base. All sections perform both elective and emergency surgeries.
The Vascular Surgery Section is responsible for all vascular surgical care within Region Västerbotten and for highly specialized vascular surgery in the Northern Healthcare Region. The unit investigates and treats patients with diseases of the neck vessels, aorta, abdominal organ vessels, peripheral vessels (extremities), and certain venous conditions.
We are seeking a Specialist Training (ST) Physician in Vascular Surgery at the Surgical Center, located in Umeå.
As an ST Physician, you are a key team member within our entire operation and organization, and will progressively take on greater responsibilities. RESPONSIBILITIES
As an ST Physician with us, you contribute knowledge and commitment that helps people feel secure.
During your specialist training, education follows the specialty's target description. You will be assigned a mentor who, together with our study director, will develop your training plan. Towards the end of placement, side placements outside the standard description may occur by agreement with the employer, both in other locations and internationally. Participation in research projects is mandatory. On-call duties are part of the ST training, as are rotation periods at our county hospitals.
You will work at our clinic, ward, and operating departments. The work is varied, and you play a crucial role around patients. Beyond surgical work, the role involves developing relationships and being human, both for patients and their relatives, and creating good working relationships.
In addition to the specialty-specific program, ST Physicians also participate in EKA training - a program focusing on leadership, economics, communication, administration, ethics, and time for personal reflection for ST Physicians within Region Västerbotten.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Swedish medical license with authorization to practice in Swedish healthcare, valid by start date
- Interest in specializing in vascular surgery
Personal suitability and collaboration skills will be considered.
We require excellent Swedish language skills at C1 level.
