About this role

Region Västerbotten works to strengthen good health and sustainable development. We take responsibility for equal welfare and ensuring that research and innovation yield results. Västerbotten Children and Youth Center is a county clinic responsible for all specialist care in the county for children and youth aged 0-18 years. Our base unit has approximately 400 employees, with a wide-ranging practice spanning multiple medical areas including general pediatrics, oncology, neonatology, allergy and asthma, nephrology, gastroenterology, cardiology, neurology, endocrinology, diabetes, and more. We also have extensive emergency services. In Skellefteå, we have an elective outpatient clinic, a day emergency clinic, and a pediatric ward focused on general pediatrics. We are now seeking candidates who want to specialize in Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine. As a Specialist Training (ST) physician with us, you will have varied work tasks across our different units. You will gain comprehensive insight and knowledge in several areas of our broad specialty - from acute pediatrics and outpatient care to advanced specialist clinics and inpatient care. At all placements, we focus on providing excellent supervision and support to assist in your professional development. Children and Youth Center offers an enjoyable and appreciated workplace with important missions we take pride in. As an ST physician, you will work in a dedicated team of physicians and other child-focused professionals. You will join a workplace with a big heart, high engagement, and a clear focus on providing you with the best possible conditions for a top-tier specialist training. WORK TASKS As an ST physician, you contribute knowledge and commitment that helps people feel secure. At Children and Youth Center, we offer you a varied and stimulating work environment where you will work at our clinics as well as in departments. Initially, you will care for children needing general pediatric care, and later in your training, you will also work in pediatric oncology, neonatology, and other specialized care areas. Your work is diverse, and you have an important role around our patients with significant personal responsibility to contribute to world-class pediatric healthcare. Evening and night emergency shifts in general pediatric primary on-call lines are part of the assignment. Beyond medical work, you will be offered regular further education and we expect you to share your experiences and acquired knowledge through short educational sessions for colleagues and students. There are good opportunities for later subspecialization in areas such as neonatology, allergology, or other specialties. In addition to the specialty-specific program, you will participate in EKA training - a program focusing on leadership, economics, communication, administration, ethics, and personal reflection for ST physicians in Region Västerbotten. QUALIFICATIONS You have a medical license with authorization to practice in Swedish healthcare no later than the start date. You have an interest in specializing in pediatric and adolescent medicine. Personal suitability and collaboration skills will be considered. You are self-motivated, take significant responsibility for your tasks, and are attentive to unique situations and the people you encounter. We believe you see the value of good communication and enjoy sharing and receiving new knowledge and experiences. As work tasks and pace can vary greatly, you need the ability to quickly shift focus and prioritize tasks. Your attitude contributes to a good work environment where we all collaborate to achieve the best possible care quality for our patients. We require excellent Swedish language skills at level C1.
