We are now seeking a Resident Physician in Ophthalmology for our clinic in Umeå.
Do you want to be part of the Eye Clinic? A lot is happening here, and there are great opportunities to develop in your profession. The Eye Clinic Västerbotten provides specialized medical care in ophthalmology in Västerbotten and the northern region. Our operations are located at the county's three hospitals in Umeå, Skellefteå, and Lycksele. We are a university clinic with high patient volumes that care for patients with eye diseases of all ages, from newborns to the elderly. We frequently use technical equipment for diagnostics and treatment in a highly research and teaching-active environment, collaborating with the ophthalmology unit at Umeå University. At the clinic, we teach future physicians, specialists, and other student groups. We have care processes for conditions such as glaucoma, diabetes, strabismus, and age-related macular degeneration.
At the eye clinic in Umeå, we have a well-developed outpatient clinic, and our inpatient beds are located in the Hand, Plastic, and Eye Department. We perform approximately 6,700 surgeries annually and have over 35,000 outpatient visits. We strive to be at the forefront and have several areas of national expertise. We have over 80 employees at the Eye Clinic in Umeå. Due to our regional specialization, most tasks found in an eye clinic are included.

RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Resident Physician with us, you will contribute knowledge and commitment that makes people feel secure.
During your residency, you will acquire knowledge and skills to independently investigate, diagnose, treat, and follow up on eye diseases. You will receive an individualized training program with a designated supervisor. The supervisor's role is to provide teaching, support, and insight into practical work problems while also supporting the development of your professional identity.
In addition to the specialty-specific program, you will participate in the LEKA training. This is a program focusing on leadership, economics, communication, administration, ethics, and time for personal reflection for Residents in Region Västerbotten.
You will primarily work during daytime hours, including day shift duties. Your placement will be in Umeå, but part of the training program may involve periods in Lycksele and Skellefteå. You will actively participate in development and quality improvement work within the clinic.
QUALIFICATIONS
You have a Swedish medical license with authorization to practice in Swedish healthcare by the start date. You have an interest in specializing in ophthalmology.
We require excellent Swedish language skills at level C1.
