JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Do you want to make a difference in children's lives? Become a support educator with us!
Are you confident, receptive, and passionate about supporting children and youth based on their individual needs? Then you might be the right person for our LSS residence where children and youth with extensive disabilities live full-time.
As a support educator, you are an important part of the children's daily life. You are both a stable point of reference and a driving force, meeting each individual with empathy and respect regardless of behavior. You need to maintain a professional approach even in emotionally challenging situations.
You are responsible for ensuring children receive appropriate support based on their needs and collaborate with guardians, schools, and habilitation services. You use alternative communication methods such as TAKK, picture schedules, TD Snap, Widgit, and PECS.
Your role includes developing and coordinating pedagogical methods, mentoring colleagues in professional ethical issues and documentation, and driving systematic quality improvement work. You will do this work together with our other support educators. You are a role model in pedagogical work and contribute to organizational development through environmental monitoring and proposing competence-enhancing initiatives.
Work is based on children's implementation plans. You need to be able to work both independently and in teams, be flexible, and step forward and take responsibility when situations quickly change. Some children have challenging behaviors, which requires you to approach them with professionalism and compassion.
You participate in children's daily life, activities, and outings both indoors and outdoors. We work closely together, support and laugh together. There is room to grow and take personal initiatives, such as through development projects or responsibility for specific areas.
You document in social journals, write and update action plans and implementation plans according to current routines. The work involves day, evening, night, and on-call shifts.
