The Disability Care Services in Umeå Municipality aim to be a resource that liberates and strengthens individuals' ability to live an independent life through proximity and interaction.
Within supported housing, there are group homes and service apartments according to LSS for individuals with intellectual and/or mental disabilities.

We are an LSS service housing facility focusing on social psychiatry. A service apartment is a residence with special services for adults according to § 9 LSS. It is aimed at individuals with disabilities who need support in their daily lives but can live more independently than in a group home. We have eleven user apartments, one staff apartment, and a common apartment. Here, you will be part of a team that collaborates with other group homes to ensure the best quality and safety.
Your Responsibilities
With a professional and respectful approach, you will work closely with the residents to enhance their independence in areas such as housing, employment/school, and leisure. The work is independent but performed in close collaboration with colleagues and external partners. Threats and violent situations may occur in the workplace.
Your tasks include, among others:
- Support in the home and in social situations
- Professional interaction and management of various conditions and challenging situations
Working hours are scheduled during the day, evening, and weekends, with on-call duties as part of the position.
About You
We are looking for someone who has a genuine commitment to working with people and who approaches others with warmth and respect. You are attentive, calm, and secure in your professional role, motivated by supporting individuals' independence and development. Furthermore, you are proactive and want to actively contribute to the development of our service housing together with colleagues and residents. With creativity and engagement, you find solutions that make everyday life meaningful and promote participation for each individual. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
Requirements
- Care and nursing program, Child and Leisure program with a focus on social work or educational work, or other training that we assess as equivalent
- Experience in healthcare
Meritorious
- Experience or knowledge of methods such as ESL (An Independent Life), MI (Motivational Interviewing), or Resima
- Experience with threats and violent situations
To communicate with users, relatives, and colleagues, write and access care documentation, and receive medication delegation, you must have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.
Smoking and animals may be present in the workplace, so you should not have allergies.
