About this role
**Job Description**
**Responsibilities**
Backa Kyrkogata is a group home located in Hisingen, accommodating five residents.
The residence offers shared spaces and a patio where residents enjoy socializing, having coffee, and barbecuing during the summer months. At Backa Kyrkogata, we focus on providing individually tailored support and services to adults. Our residents, aged between 34 and 62, live in their own apartments and represent a diverse group with varying needs.
As a support assistant, you play a central role in promoting residents' participation and creating conditions for them to influence their services and daily lives. You provide support in daily activities—from communication and social interaction to leisure activities and practical household tasks. By adapting your approach, you contribute to ensuring that each individual has the opportunity to live an independent and meaningful life.
You will work closely with individuals in the residents' networks, such as guardians, social workers, relatives, and health care professionals. The position also includes social documentation and medication management according to current delegation.
By establishing and following implementation plans, you ensure that the residents remain the focus. You contribute to creating a safe home where each person is given the opportunity to live like others. The role also involves motivating and inspiring residents—such as by strengthening social contacts and creating conditions for enriching leisure activities based on the residents' interests. As a support assistant, you make a significant contribution, enabling our residents to grow and develop.
All social documentation is conducted in the documentation system Treserva. If you have not previously used the systems employed within the City of Gothenburg, you will receive training in these.
Housing with special services provides support around the clock. We base our work on the residents' needs and must adjust working hours accordingly. Working hours are scheduled for daytime, evening, and weekends. We use Time Care Planning for operationally adapted and flexible schedules.
**Qualifications**
We are looking for candidates with a degree from the Health and Care program, support assistant training, or the Child and Leisure program with a focus on social or educational work. The educational requirement is also met if you have a post-secondary specialization in the area of disabilities that includes at least 200 vocational training credits, 120 higher education credits, or a combination that corresponds to at least four semesters of full-time studies. Alternatively, 60 higher education credits and at least two years of experience working with support and services for individuals with disabilities. The education should include relevant credits in behavioral science, pedagogy, psychology, social work, and (psychiatric) care, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.
Communication is a vital part of the job, which requires you to have a passing grade in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1. Those who do not meet the qualification requirements in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1 may be offered to take a language test through the testing provider Educateit.
Experience or knowledge in AAC (alternative and augmentative communication), LAB (low-arousal approach), and clear pedagogical methods is an advantage.
You take responsibility for both your own and the group's tasks and always work with the individual's best interests in mind. You strive to carry out tasks meticulously and follow up on results to ensure high quality.
In interactions with others, you are friendly, accommodating, and respectful—even when the pace is high. You approach everyone in a positive and professional manner and ensure that the residents receive the support and services they need.
You are stable and secure in challenging situations, can handle demands and time pressure, and make well-founded decisions even when circumstances are difficult.
