JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

With us, you'll have a job with a golden touch - you'll become an important person in children and youth's lives. Our LSS residential facility houses children/youth with severe disabilities full-time. You'll follow and support their lives closely, and relationships will develop deeply. You need to be their secure point, but often also their driving force. You must meet our children/youth with empathy and respect, regardless of their behavior, which is of utmost importance. This means maintaining a professional distance to avoid becoming personally affected by emotional reactions.
Your responsibility involves ensuring children/youth receive the support they need based on their specific requirements. You'll work closely with the children's/youth's guardians and other actors such as schools, child and youth habilitation, or adult habilitation. In your work, you'll need to use various alternative communication methods like TAKK, picture schedules, TD Snap (Pratis), Widgit, PECS.
All work is planned based on children's/youth's implementation plans. You should be able to work independently but also collaborate with colleagues. This is a job for someone who wants to take responsibility, step forward, and be flexible when things change quickly. When challenges arise in children's or youth's lives, you need to be able to guide them forward in a clear and secure manner. The work can be challenging, and some children/youth may have challenging and outward-directed behaviors that you must address with professionalism and compassion.
You'll participate and support children/youth in all residential activities and indoor/outdoor activities. We work together, support each other, and are close to laughter, excursions, and other fun activities with children and youth. There's also room for personal growth.
You'll document your work in a social journal and write and update action plans. You have a responsibility to plan, implement, and document your work according to current routines and evaluate and update as needed. You'll work day, evening, night, sleeping on-call, and awake night shifts.
QUALIFICATIONS
We're seeking someone with an approved education as a support assistant, social pedagogue, or education from the care and nursing program or child and leisure program with a focus on social work. You should have at least two years of experience working in special housing for children or youth under LSS (child residence), short-term housing for children or youth under LSS, or group housing for adults under LSS.
We also want you to have experience or training in alternative communication methods like TAKK, picture schedules, TD Snap (Pratis), Widgit, PECS. You should be able to maintain social documentation and have good computer skills. A requirement for the position is having a manual driver's license as you'll often drive children/youth on excursions and other activities. It's meritorious if you have training or experience in low-affective approach.

Listening, showing empathy and respect are natural to you, while being unpretentious and acknowledging and rewarding others' contributions. You must be able to address our children/youth professionally and empathetically regardless of their behavior and avoid becoming personally affected.

Furthermore, you adapt to different situations and have the ability to change your perspective and approach.
