Uppvidinge Municipality operates short-term accommodation for children and young people in Åseda and now needs to strengthen the staff group with 1 person working afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts, as well as one staff member working awake night shifts part-time. The short-term accommodation is located in Åseda, situated in a scenic area, close to illuminated trails and forest where children can spend time and do activities together. The facility is newly built and adapted for conducting LSS (disability support) activities. The work involves providing children and young people with a safe and meaningful stay where they can develop their abilities. WORK TASKS The work as a support assistant requires knowledge of different functional abilities and what it means to have an intellectual disability. It is important that you have clear, pedagogical, and simple communication. Furthermore, it is crucial that you are attentive, responsible, and confident. Being able to act with a low-affective approach is essential. You need to be able to work both in groups and independently. Care work and hygiene routines are included, as well as performing delegated tasks such as tube feeding. To function and thrive in the job, you need to be able to communicate and collaborate with other staff and guardians, and have the ability to plan and structure the day and document in journal systems. The facility is open according to family needs, which means that stay times may vary. Schedules and working hours change based on the needs of children and young people, especially during holidays and time off. QUALIFICATIONS It is desirable to have an education in social pedagogy, special education, leisure pedagogy, or be a trained nursing assistant, childcare worker, or have other relevant education. Good computer skills are required, including the ability to use common digital tools such as Outlook, Teams, and document in journal systems. It is also important to be proficient in the Swedish language, both verbally and in writing. A driver's license is mandatory. It is appropriate to have experience working with children and young people with disabilities, intellectual disabilities, or neuropsychiatric functional variations. To succeed in the job and be happy in your role, it is important to have the ability to set clear boundaries and maintain established routines. Experience with sign language and visual support is meritorious. If you have experience with cooking, enjoy cooking, have worked with educational cooking, or have knowledge of nutrition and health, this is a plus. Great importance is placed on personal suitability. OTHER If you become a candidate for employment, the employer will request an extract from the criminal record register. The Municipal Board has decided that all new employees must present a criminal record extract before employment. The extract to be presented is the one for work within schools or preschools.
