About this role

Are you engaged and curious and looking for a developing role as an electrical designer in a company striving towards a more sustainable world? Then this position might be for you! Location: Oxelösund. Becoming part of the SSAB family means embarking on a journey. A journey that we believe is crucial for the future of our planet and sustainability. Steel has been one of the most important materials for our societal development and will continue to be so in the future. In our homes, in bridges that connect our cities, and in tomorrow’s cars. At SSAB, we take pride in our history and our leadership in high-strength steel. At the same time, we acknowledge that steel production is one of the industries that releases the most greenhouse gases in the world. This must change. Therefore, we have developed the world’s first fossil-free process for steel production and are committed to becoming largely fossil-free. As part of SSAB, you will play a vital role in realizing this goal and thus contribute to a green transition of the entire steel industry. You will work alongside your colleagues on electrical design, including new construction and modifications to existing drawings/facilities, problem-solving, facility development, documentation, training, and commissioning of machines in our facilities. You will primarily participate in two different workflows: project and work order flow. Collaboration with production sections/departments is important, and your main points of contact will consist of maintenance technicians, process technicians, and external suppliers, as well as contacts with purchasing, internal staff, and contractors. You will belong to the Electrical/Mechanical section in the Plate Technology department. In this section, there are around 30 electrical and mechanical designers working towards the Rolling Mill facilities. We work in area groups where mechanical, electrical, and systems designers collaborate towards four different production departments. We offer you developing and stimulating days where, together with other designers, you will be responsible for the electrical design and functionality of machines and facilities within the Rolling Mill. Here, you will have the opportunity to be close to reality and follow projects from idea to commissioning. Selection and interviews will be conducted on an ongoing basis, and the position may be filled before the application deadline. Your main responsibilities: • Perform electrical design according to established standards. • Commissioning of machines and facilities. • Review drawing materials and validate safety solutions. • Assist in the development of facilities and working methods. • Contribute technical expertise when needed, for example in complex solutions. • Conduct risk assessments and orders related to work orders/projects. • Archive drawings and electrical documentation. About you: • You have an education in electrical design or equivalent knowledge gained through experience, along with several years of documented experience in electrical design. Experience from the manufacturing industry is considered a strong merit. • You thrive on technical challenges, have the ability to quickly understand complex problems, and are solution-oriented in your work. • You plan and organize your own work, are driven, and have the ability to make independent decisions. • Good collaborative skills are essential, and you have an open approach, are receptive, and adapt solutions according to needs that arise. • You are fluent in Swedish and English and have a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing. Our offer: At SSAB, diversity and inclusion are part of our culture. We use our values – Driven, Genuine, and a Step Ahead – in our daily decision-making, always with the customer in focus. This makes us all team players, with a common striving to improve ourselves. When you join SSAB, you become part of an organization of passionate problem-solvers working together on significant challenges. We will support your growth by providing a safe and friendly workplace that contributes to the balance between work and private life.
