About this role

As a special educator at Ugglums School for grades 5-9, you are an important resource and have a significant opportunity to influence the school's development work at the organizational, group, and individual levels in close collaboration with the principal, with the goal of ensuring that all students have the opportunity to receive the best teaching and learning for successful studies. In close cooperation with the principal, you will develop the organization in the special educational work. You will have a clear special educational focus that should be developed and anchored within the school. At Ugglums School, we have initiated co-teaching in some classes. We wish to further develop this and monitor the progress of both students and teachers in this initiative. During the implementation phase and the development of co-teaching, there are various needs where the special educator becomes a key person, for example, in guidance. The special educator will have overall responsibility for the educational interventions and will collaborate with teachers, the principal, the student health team (EHT), and other functions. You will be part of the student health team for grades 5-9, consisting of a school nurse, school counselor, school psychologist, and principal. The team works closely together and engages with both students and teachers. The student health team has a preventive, promoting, and remedial approach and works at both group and individual levels, including issues related to school attendance, teacher and guardian training. Responsibilities: - Ensure that the screening plan is implemented and developed in dialogue with respective subject teachers. - Analyze the results of screenings and provide feedback to teachers on results and suggestions for interventions and modified working methods. - Provide feedback on results to the principal and suggest organizational measures and potential interventions. - Report on interventions and their outcomes to the student health team. - Assess incoming reports to the student health team for further handling. - Conduct educational investigations in collaboration with class teachers and mentors. - Analyze these investigations and provide feedback to the working team, students, and guardians. - In collaboration with special teachers, establish, follow up, and evaluate action plans. - Document all communication regarding students in our documentation system, Prorenata. - Coordinate, lead meetings, and write minutes as needed, for example, during teaching conferences, working team meetings, EHT meetings, guardian meetings, student health conferences, and student health meetings, ensuring that these reach the appropriate individuals. - Work systematically with attendance follow-up and promoting measures. - Participate in subject didactic collegiums. - Engage in special educational networks. - Attend weekly working team meetings. - Hold recurring collaboration meetings with the special educator for grades F-4. - Ensure that the flexible activities operate according to routine. Qualifications We are looking for someone with special education training and a good understanding of relevant legislation. You have solid knowledge and experience in the special educational role and experience in understanding how changes affect the overall development of the organization. The work should be characterized by collaboration, flexibility, and strong pedagogical leadership. You can collaborate with and guide educators based on existing needs.
