About this role

Special Educator / Special Teacher Wanted for Stockholm International Academy Häggvik About the School Stockholm International Academy in Häggvik is a well-established F–9 school with approximately 350 students. We are a free school providing instruction in Swedish, following the Swedish curriculum. The school is located in a quiet area near commuter trains, buses, and nature. We operate based on a clear value foundation where knowledge and democracy are at the forefront. Our goal is for every student to achieve at least passing grades in all subjects and to be well-prepared for future studies. We understand that language is the key to learning. Therefore, we focus on language development across all subjects, with particular emphasis on early and systematic development of Swedish and English. We have an active school library, well-equipped special facilities, and staff who enjoy their work and choose to stay. About the Role As a special educator/special teacher with us, you will play a crucial role in developing the school's pedagogical work at the organizational, group, and individual levels. You will work in a proactive, preventive, and remedial capacity. Your responsibilities will include, among others: • Driving the development of accessible learning environments in collaboration with school management and working teams. • Guiding and supporting teachers and extracurricular staff through collegial learning, advice, and professional development. • Actively participating in the Student Health Team and the school's attendance team. • Mapping needs at the school and group levels and participating in planning the school's value foundation work. • Supporting assessment and adaptations of instruction. • Conducting observations and pedagogical assessments. • Working with students individually or in smaller groups. • Being responsible for pedagogical investigations and action plans, as well as collaborating with guardians and external parties (e.g., Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Social Services, National Agency for Special Needs Education and Schools). You will be an integral part of our Student Health Team, which includes two other special teachers, a school nurse, a school doctor, a school psychologist, a school social worker, and school management. The EHT meets weekly and works closely with the operations. We are looking for someone who: • Holds a degree in special education or a special teacher qualification. • Has a strong ability to collaborate with students, staff, and guardians. • Maintains a low-arousal, structured, and solution-focused approach. • Can work independently but also contribute to collective development. • Has the ability to uplift, support, and inspire others. Experience and competence in working with upper secondary students is an advantage. We offer: • A positive and welcoming faculty where collaboration is natural. • A student health service that is an active part of the operations, not a sideline. • Clear structures, an engaged school management, and good opportunities to influence. • A permanent position, 100%, with a probationary period of up to 6 months. We process applications on an ongoing basis and warmly welcome you to apply – it is important to us that the right person is in the right place. We kindly ask recruitment agencies not to contact us.
