About this role

Designgymnasiet – Five schools, a thousand opportunities. Our schools are located in Kungsholmen, Sickla, Malmö, Västerås, and Gothenburg, operating Sweden's best design high schools. Curiosity, creativity, and a strong interest in design unite students and teachers as we educate the designers of the future. Learn more about us at www.designgymnasiet.se. We are seeking a special education teacher from March 16, 2026, to June 18, 2027. The school currently has over 20 employees and approximately 340 students distributed across the aesthetic program, technical program, and vocational program in sales and service. The school is located in Kungsholmen, less than a five-minute walk from Stadshagen subway station. Student Health Work at Designgymnasiet Kungsholmen For some time now, we have made significant investments in the school's student health mission, which is embraced by all staff members. The school has a well-functioning student health support team that currently consists of a special education teacher, a counselor, a study and career advisor, a school nurse, and the school management. Job Description: As a special education teacher at Designgymnasiet Kungsholmen, you will balance on a task stool with three sturdy legs. The legs consist of the organizational, the collegial, and the direct student work. Organizational Assignment As a member of the school's student health support team, you will address issues related to the overall organization to create optimal conditions for learning, focusing on student health issues and pedagogy/didactics. Swedish school governance documents guide organization and structure, and we strongly believe that efforts at this level have a direct impact on teachers' conditions, individual learning, and the psychosocial conditions for each individual in the end. Collegial Assignment As the school's special education teacher, you will be available for collegial guidance, formal and informal support with a strong focus on leadership and stimulation, extra adaptations, and special support. You will assist in investigations and assessments, but above all, you will take responsibility for facilitating dialogue about learning, differentiated instruction, and accessibility for all in a very dynamic and exciting environment. You will recognize the strengths in the various working methods represented, ranging from traditional theoretical group teaching to individual instruction and all configurations in between. During preparatory days and in development projects, but especially in everyday situations, you will be responsible for bringing current special education thoughts and theories to life, striving to apply these in a real context. Student Work We strongly believe that the most effective interventions are made at the organizational and collegial level, but we never view direct student work as a "waste of resources." There are situations where the need for both one-time and ongoing special educational interventions at the group and individual level is significant, and where not only mentors and teachers but also students need active support from a special education teacher to ensure that all students have equal opportunities to succeed. Between these three assignments, there are no absolute boundaries or lines, and your workday will shift between different levels and perspectives in an exciting and at times challenging flow. The assignment is thus extensive, but you will also be given a large mandate and great freedom to shape and drive your work based on what you believe is important. We place high trust in your ability and expertise as a special education teacher at Designgymnasiet Kungsholmen.
