Do you want to help create the best possible conditions for children's and students' language development? Olofström Municipality is now seeking a special educator with a focus on language, speech, and communication (STK) who wants to work preventively and developively in close collaboration with educators, guardians, and the student health team.
Job Responsibilities
As a special educator specializing in language, speech, and communication, you will play an important role in our work to support children’s and students’ learning and development. Your role covers preschool, primary school, and after-school care, providing an opportunity to work with a holistic view from early language development to continued learning in school.
Your responsibilities will include, among other things:
- Working preventively and promoting to strengthen children's and students' language development,
- Carrying out assessments and observations, as well as analyzing students’ needs,
- Guiding and supporting educators and teams in using language- and communication-promoting approaches,
- Collaborating with guardians, preschools, schools, the student health team, and when necessary, external partners (e.g., speech therapists),
- Contributing to systematic quality work in the field of language, speech, and communication,
- Participating in development initiatives for inclusive learning environments and communication support, such as AAC (alternative and augmentative communication).
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a teaching qualification as a special educator, with further education in language, speech, and communication,
- Has experience working in preschool or school with children and students in need of support for language and communication,
- Is capable of building strong relationships with both children and students as well as colleagues and guardians,
- Is inclusive, solution-focused, communicative, and has the ability to drive development work,
- Ideally holds a degree in early childhood education,
- Preferably has experience with AAC, language-promoting practices, and guiding educators.
