Special Education Teacher for Preschool to Central Child and Student Health Services

Within the Department of Education and Labor Market, we have preschools, primary schools, secondary schools, a reception unit for newly arrived students, municipal activity responsibility, adult education, a culture school, a technology school, a nature school, central child and student health services, a youth reception, a labor market unit, and a campus for higher education. The professionals included in the central child and student health services are social workers, speech therapists, psychologists, special educators, school nurses, and school doctors. The unit is responsible for child and student health teams for preschools, primary schools, adapted primary schools, secondary schools, and adapted secondary schools. Since the start of the school year in August 2025, there has been an organization with five overarching student health teams for primary and adapted primary schools, aimed at creating favorable conditions for principals to lead and develop their student health work. "Student Health in Focus" is a new forum for principals and all professionals in the student health teams, starting from the school year in August 2025, aimed at developing preventive and health-promoting student health work through dialogue and creating equity in student health efforts. Collaboration with all professionals and units within the Department of Education and Labor Market and other municipal departments is essential for central Child and Student Health. Active work is ongoing to build bridges between the department's various operations and the municipality's other departments. Since September 2024, the psychosocial aspect of the Youth Reception's operations has also been included under the umbrella of central Child and Student Health. JOB DESCRIPTION We are now seeking a special educator for preschools to join the central child and student health services with a degree in special education. Together with the unit manager of child and student health, the deputy school principal, principals, and speech therapists for preschools, you will have the opportunity to help shape the role to best match our existing competencies and meet the needs of the preschools. Our development work is practice-oriented and based on scientific principles and proven experience. Language development is an ongoing focus, and all preschools in Katrineholm Municipality have participated in the IFoU program "Language-Developing Preschool" for three years. The preschools also show an increased awareness of the importance of the learning environment, a work area that can be further developed. As a special educator, you will be a key person in the development work of the operations. Your approach is practice-oriented and characterized by collaboration, responsiveness, and commitment. Child and Student Health serves as an important link between the municipality's various departments, all municipalities in the region, and Region Sörmland. Katrineholm Municipality conducts active health-promoting work with Pep Municipality as part of Generation Pep, which has received national recognition. "Together for the Best for Children in Sörmland" is a collaboration model for early interventions for children and young people aged 0-18, encompassing Region Sörmland's health and medical care, municipal social services, and preschool/school. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone with a degree in special education. You have a good understanding of the preventive and health-promoting tasks of child and student health. Furthermore, you have documented experience in driving systematic change and development work. Previous experience in successfully leading and coordinating various professions within preschools is an advantage. You motivate, lead, and create conditions for others to develop their work and achieve common goals. With a realistic perspective, you contribute to clarifying tasks and goals for the group. You work solution-focused, build and maintain good relationships, and have the ability to create engagement in various contexts. The role involves collaboration in different forms, which means you must be both self-driven and possess good teamwork skills.
