**Description**
We are currently seeking a special education teacher for an adapted compulsory school to teach subject areas for grades 7-9.
Nordhemsskolan 2-9 is a historic school located in the heart of Linnéstaden, just the right distance from the city and Slottsskogen. It is easily accessible via tram and bus networks that converge at Järntorget, just north of the school.
The school has just over 800 students, around 200 of whom are in the lower and middle school grades. Nordhemsskolan is committed to learning with a focus on quality teaching in a safe environment. The school comprises a compulsory school and an adapted compulsory school, led by a team consisting of a principal, three vice principals, and over 110 staff members. Nordhemsskolan employs PALS – a school-wide approach based on relationship-building, clarity, and structure in both preventative and immediate interventions.
**Responsibilities**
As a special education teacher focusing on intellectual disabilities, you will teach in the adapted compulsory school's subject areas for grades 7-9. You will be responsible for planning, implementation, assessment, and documentation in accordance with Lgra22. You will be part of a collaborative team and will work closely with other teachers and student assistants. You are expected to take significant responsibility for ensuring that students have the opportunity to develop into independent learners based on their individual capabilities. You will be responsible for executing planned measures and participating in follow-up and evaluation.
**Qualifications**
We are looking for a qualified and certified special education teacher with a focus on intellectual disabilities. Additionally, you must have the authority to teach in an adapted compulsory school for grades 7-9 in subject areas. Previous experience as a special education teacher is an advantage. Experience working in an adapted compulsory school as well as advanced knowledge in AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and experience working with students who have an intellectual disability combined with autism are also merits.
Interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate are essential characteristics, as your role involves close cooperation with students, guardians, other staff, and the principal. We seek someone who is solution-focused and sees opportunities in changes. You work to ensure that each student receives the support they need. You communicate information and ideas clearly both orally and in writing, ensuring that your message is effectively conveyed. You adapt your communication according to the audience, target group, and situation.
