About this role

Are you also passionate about helping children from socioeconomically challenged areas succeed in school? Familjen läser is an initiative conducted in collaboration with social services, preschools, schools, and local stakeholders to achieve just that. We focus on children in their final year of preschool and grades F-3 in school, as well as their parents. We are now seeking a dedicated special teacher or special educator who wants to contribute to this important work! About the workplace In the city, the social services department is responsible for individual and family care. Our mission is to enable residents to become independent in life so they can take an active part in society. We are undergoing an exciting organizational change focused on creating a more accessible social service based on three main areas: authority, interventions and services, and housing. We have high ambitions. But to succeed, we need you. The position is based at the social services office on Bredgatan 17, but most of the work will be carried out in the residential area where the position is located. Feel free to read more about Familjen läser at: Familjen läser - for a more equal start to school | Öppnasoc (helsingborg.se) and on Instagram @familjenlaser. Job responsibilities Familjen läser currently operates in Planteringen and Drottninghög. With great enthusiasm, we will expand this initiative to another residential area with this position. You will lead this work, supported by the team's project manager, two special teachers/special educators, and developers. In this role, you will collaborate with the area's preschools. You will mentor their staff in early reading and writing development and adapt the methods to fit their operations. You will map and monitor the children's progress, and if necessary, work with individual children. Parents play a crucial role in their children's development, and we believe in their capabilities. In collaboration with the preschools, you will have individual conversations with parents and lead our parent group, Lyckas i skolan. You will help develop methods to reach the parents who have the greatest needs, with interventions that suit them. Regarding work with grades F-3, you will further engage parents in the school's early years. You will collaborate with committed parents from the area, listen to their perceived needs in their role as school parents, and support them in developing solutions. In existing areas, we work together with parents and partners to run study support groups, themed evenings, and develop educational materials for everyday learning. What we offer The team you will work with consists of social workers and teachers with many years of experience in social work and education in areas with socioeconomic challenges. We are ambitious, unpretentious, and prioritize the goal of ensuring children succeed. We support each other and develop the work together! The workplace is smoke-free and health-conscious. As an employee, you will receive a wellness allowance of 3000 SEK per year. Qualifications We are looking for someone who is a qualified special teacher or special educator, preferably with a focus on reading and writing development. You have experience working with children's early language development as part of preschool activities and/or school. Personality-wise, you have a growth mindset, planning skills, and a strong passion for the issues we work with. This enables you to approach the work with enthusiasm, easily identify development opportunities, and implement them in practice. You meet parents at eye level and include them in the work, alongside partners. We place great importance on personal suitability.
