JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference for students with intellectual disabilities and contribute to their knowledge development and well-being. With us, you will play an important role in an engaged team where we work to create a safe, structured, and stimulating learning environment.
As a special education teacher with us, you will:
• Teach students in adapted primary school, covering subjects and subject areas for grades 1-9.
• Your main task is to plan, implement, and follow up on the teaching for our students. You will work closely with other staff at the school to support each student's knowledge development and create the best possible conditions for learning.
• Serve as a mentor for a group of students and be an important contact for guardians.
• Collaborate closely with colleagues in a team where cooperation and good relationships are central.
• Contribute to the development of pedagogical methods and adaptations based on each student's individual needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who:
• Is a licensed primary school teacher.
• Holds a special education degree with a focus on intellectual disabilities.
• Has experience in adapted primary school or similar settings.
• Has good knowledge of functional variations and methods that promote learning and social development.
• Is confident, flexible, and solution-oriented with a positive and respectful approach.
• Enjoys working both independently and in a team.
Desirable knowledge and experience:
• Alternative and augmentative communication (AAC), e.g., PECS and sign language support.
• Digital communication aids, e.g., Tobii Dynavox.
• Clear pedagogical methods and low-arousal responses.
• Management of medical needs (e.g., tube feeding, epilepsy) and working according to self-care plans.
• Transfer and lifting techniques as well as aids such as standing scales, walkers, and wheelchairs.
• Digital tools and visual support programs such as Boardmaker, PictureMyLife, and Widgit Online.
