The school has approximately 270 students distributed across a three-parallel primary school and preschool class. Each class has a teacher and a collaboration partner from after-school care. We have a large after-school center with four age-divided departments. Rutgerskolan's after-school center also receives students from our nearby intermediate school and students admitted to the adapted school. In the autumn of 2026, Rutgerskolan will be closed and merged into the new Västerängsskolan and Prästamosseskolan, both F-9 schools. The move will involve a major reorganization with both challenges and opportunities. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Do you want to make a real difference in our youngest students' language, reading, and writing development? We are seeking a special education teacher specializing in language, reading, and writing development who is passionate about creating conditions for all students to succeed in their learning. As a special education teacher at Rutgerskolan, you will work closely with students in the operation, focusing on developing their reading and writing skills. You will be an important part of the school's student health work and contribute your expertise in both preventive and remedial interventions. At Rutgerskolan, Swedish instruction is based on scientific grounds, and we use the phonics method in reading instruction. The phonics method, also known as the synthetic method, is a structured and systematic teaching approach that teaches the relationship between language sounds (phonemes) and letters (graphemes). The position is distributed during spring 2026 as follows: • 50% work with preschool class (F) students • 50% work with 2nd-grade students You will work closely with class teachers and other staff, both in the classroom and in smaller groups. Your work involves planning and implementing individual and group-based teaching interventions for students with reading and writing difficulties, based on the Fonomix method. QUALIFICATIONS You have a teaching certification with a special education degree specializing in language, reading, and writing development. • At least three years of professional experience as a licensed teacher in primary school's early years. • Previous experience with the special education assignment in F-3. • Good knowledge of the phonics method and Fonomix, with experience using the method in teaching. • Good knowledge of various support measures and learning strategies • Comfortable providing support in the classroom and leading instruction in smaller student groups • Strong collaboration skills and comfortable working both independently and in a team The work requires good collaboration skills, initiative, a flexible approach, and a positive view of students. You believe children do right if they can. You can handle challenges, participate in school development, and have high social competence. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.
