Birgittaskolan in Örebro offers bilingual education in a sign language environment for students from preschool through grade 10. Our students receive instruction in both Swedish Sign Language and written Swedish. We provide accommodation for students who cannot commute daily. Birgittaskolan is a state special school for deaf students or those with hearing impairments. Located in Örebro, the school serves students from Dalarna, Södermanland, Värmland, Västmanland, Örebro, and Östergötland counties. For students unable to commute daily, Birgittaskolan offers student housing. We offer our students an environment that enables participation and development. Everyone can engage in social interaction, feel a sense of belonging, and develop as individuals in a bilingual education within a sign language environment. At Birgittaskolan, we have excellent access to various professionals in our student health team and digital learning tools in a well-equipped IT environment. We have approximately 100 employees working at the school or in student accommodations. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES We are now seeking special education teachers for Birgittaskolan The position includes being a mentor for a group of students, and you are expected to lead and stimulate our students towards creativity, motivation, and increased knowledge with your expertise and commitment. You will also be responsible for planning and individualizing your instruction. You should be comfortable collaborating with any teaching assistants who may be part of the class. We seek conscious and challenging teachers who, through openness, innovation, and a holistic approach, capitalize on each student's abilities and competencies to meet a changing world. Changing work methods and forms with the help of IT technology is a prerequisite. It is a given that you have an interest in school development and possess good collaboration skills. QUALIFICATIONS We are seeking candidates who have: - Teaching certification qualifying you to teach special education for students with developmental disabilities in special schools. - Experience working in adapted primary education. A requirement for working with us is proficiency in Swedish Sign Language, as our sign language environment is crucial. The school has student housing for some students, which requires collaborative abilities with both accommodation staff and other professionals involved in the student's school day. Experience working with students with neuropsychiatric functional disorders is meritorious. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
