About this role

Habilitation & Health offers specialized care and support to individuals with long-term functional disabilities, such as impaired ability to communicate, see, hear, or move. The goal is to maintain and develop functional capacity, create conditions for good health, and enable active participation in society. Would you like to make a difference for people with disabilities? Welcome to Habilitation & Health, part of the Västra Götaland Region. Together, we have the power to create change. Habilitation is specialized healthcare for children and youth with autism, intellectual disabilities, mobility impairments, or acquired brain injuries. We provide health-promoting and treatment interventions based on each individual's unique needs and conditions, with specialized knowledge about how disabilities can impact daily life, health, and development. Description We are seeking candidates interested in working with children and youth up to 18 years old with diagnoses such as autism, intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, muscle diseases, hereditary metabolic diseases, spina bifida, acquired brain injuries, genetic syndromes, etc. Our specialty is understanding the symptoms these diagnoses can cause and preventing and treating them. We follow our patients over time to see how interventions make a difference in the daily lives of both patients and families. Common symptoms can sometimes manifest in unusual ways, and Habilitation can help identify these. The service is outpatient-based and operates during daytime hours without on-call duty. Habilitation works closely with Pediatric and Adolescent Medical Clinics, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Clinics, DSBS, Local Health Care, and Student Health Services. Job Responsibilities We are looking for someone curious about our operations who wants to work with a great team. The position is located within Habilitation for Children and Youth in Gothenburg, specifically at the Hisingen clinic. In December 2025, the organization will be restructured. Patients will be distributed across an autism/ID (intellectual disability) clinic and two mobility impairment clinics. Patients with autism/ID will belong to the Hisingen clinic. As a nurse, you will need comprehensive knowledge of all patient groups since we staff the phone together and help each other when needed. You will work in a cross-professional team with doctors, dietitians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, counselors, psychologists, speech therapists, and special education teachers. Your role will involve closely collaborating with children/youth, parents, and other professional groups to make assessments and analyses, plan and implement interventions, and subsequently evaluate them. The primary areas a habilitation nurse works in are sleep, medication follow-up, elimination, nutrition/gastrostomy, and epilepsy. You will have your own clinic or joint appointments with other professional groups. Interventions for children/youth can be provided individually or in groups during specific periods. You will serve as a link for medical issues within habilitation and have a collaborative role with neighboring care providers. An introduction period and collegial supervision will be offered. Qualifications You should be a licensed nurse with additional training, preferably in pediatric care. Clinical experience in child and adolescent psychiatry, pediatric medicine, and/or child and adolescent neurology is meritorious. You must be able to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
